About

Children's Manor provides an environment in which your child will grow in knowledge and confidence based on the philosophies of the Montessori Method of Education. The Montessori approach allows the method to adapt to the needs of your child regardless of his/her level of ability, learning style or social maturity. At Children’s Manor, we believe that this philosophy with its flexibility and focus on each individual child puts your child in a situation where they can succeed, not only in becoming excellent scholars, but also becoming contributors and leaders in our society. Your child becomes secure, happy, curious, and a creative problem-solver. Children’s Manor is a natural built laboratory for learning. In all of our programs, the focus of our curriculum consists of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language Arts, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies (including Geography, History, Science, Art, and Music). Our specialty classes consist of Yoga, Spanish, Library, and Computer. Our Primary, Pre-K, and Kindergarten program focuses primarily on the internal construction of knowledge in our students, whereas our Lower and Upper Elementary Program focuses more on the “how” and “why” of learning.

I had a chance to tour this facility for my daughter's preschool. Highly recommend this to all my friends. The curriculum is really good. Classes focus on Yoga and Computers too.

I am so glad I chose Children’s Manor Montessori School in Columbia, MD for my 3-year-old daughter. She has been attending the school for about 8 months now. Prior to that, my mother-in-law took care of her in the comfort of our home since she was born. My husband and I were concerned about her transitioning to a daycare/school environment at 2.5 years old. She was also only attending part-time (3 days a week), which made us even more worried about the transition. The first few days were definitely a challenge, which was expected. But after about 3 weeks (9 days of attendance), she was fully adjusted and loved going to school to see her teachers and friends. She is always so excited to tell me about what she did at school when I pick her up and is always singing songs she learned. We immediately noticed a major improvement in her language development. She even knows how to count in Spanish. A major factor that attracted me to this school is that most of the teachers have been there for 10+ years, which speaks volumes. Ms. Jeni, the director, has been very accommodating and helpful with all of our needs. The building itself is a little older, but the facility is spacious and kept clean and organized. I rated a 4.5 out of 5 for safety because they have cameras that do not work sometimes (but there is always a working lock and keypad for the front door). The billing/accounting department was nightmare-ish at first, but now all is well after a few kinks were worked out. Overall, it's obvious how much the teachers love and care for my daughter and how much she enjoys this school.
