My child went to Ms. Loretta's for 2 years and for 2 years we had great communication and I depended on her for child care because I am a single parent and I have to be in the office full time. I even transferred my child to the nearby elementary school at the director’s advice to continue to go to her daycare for before and after care. If there was a behavioral issue with my child that needed to be addressed one of the teachers or the director always brought it to my attention and we worked together to resolve it quickly. I had not receive a complaint from a teacher or the director in a very long time until I received a phone call on a Friday afternoon telling me that my child could not return due to behavioral issues. When I asked why the issues were not brought up with me before we got to this point I was told that it was written in the contract that she could remove a child at any time without notice, and the director could not tell me what the issues were because she said they happened “when she was not there and did not see them” and the teachers did not need to report them to her or me. I tried to discuss the issues with the director and find ways to resolve it so my child could stay until I could find replacement daycare, including changing my work hours so my child would not be alone with the younger teacher that was more incompetent than the other teachers, but the director refused to work with me. I told her I did not have any other options besides her and her response was she knew I didn’t have any other options but that was not her problem. She even told me my child could stay through the following week then sent me an email later in the evening with a letter saying he could not return. This left me with no daycare for a week and no way to get to work without any notice to my job. The behavior of the director was extremely unprofessional and disappointing both for me and my child who built up relationships with her and the kids at the preschool he was attending. I was always the first one to praise Loretta and her daycare. I respected her and depended on her, especially being a single parent, and I would have recommended her to anyone that needed childcare. Unfortunately it appears that Loretta cares more about making money and taking time off for vacations than she does the kids or the parents that depend on her and I would not recommend her to anyone that cannot afford to be forced out of daycare without notice.
