MISSION STATEMENT: Elder’s Childcare Center is a childcare program that focuses on providing full services to working parents, with emphasis on convenient hours, as well as educational and social skills development. Our pre- school program will prepare children for kindergarten. This will be accomplished through a moral base educational Curriculum that provides the child the opportunity to learn through creative play, structured teaching, and through loving discipline to grow according to his/ her unique development. In addition, our mission is to provide a safe alternative for the working parents. PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION: We believe that children have a wonderful capacity to learn and are naturally inquisitive. If these natural qualities are guided in a positive educational direction then the child will be prepared for school and for life. Therefore, we adopt a Holistic approach for a child’s development. This approach recognizes that a child is a whole person. As a whole person the child will have the following basic needs: Physical, social, emotional, spiritual and mental. We further believe in a moral base educational curriculum that attempts to instill within the child a sense of right and wrong. We believe that all children have the innate capacity to learn. Therefore our curriculum is developed so that all learning domains are employed: Cognitive, psycho-motor, and affective. We are absolutely in the early stage of adapting to daycare with our little one, but I feel this review is due now. I'd previously began researching quality childcare for our baby six/seven months before I gave birth. Ironically Elder’s was the first facility I contacted. From day one Ms. Shantell was absolutely amazing and answered all my questions in a responsive, friendly and helpful manner. At this timeframe I definitely wasn't ready to make a decision, so I continued my research. Fast-forward several months later, after the birth of our baby, we had toured and researched other childcare businesses. Some of these facilities are the well-known "franchise" ones. However, they were not impressive and their childcare inspections/discrepancies were appalling and quite frankly, scary. I even cried after one of the tours, just terrible. But that was just due diligence and I circled right back to my first choice, Elder’s. We are simply delighted already with the level of service, support, positive attitude and overall professionalism we have received, not to mention our baby is thriving and happy. I can see so many positive changes in his development already. I thought he'd have a tougher adjustment period, but nope, from day one, he was like a spider monkey with his teacher, lol. His teacher, Ms. Kya (and her team, Ms. GiGi, Ms. Cayla, Ms. Erika, Ms. Rasheeda, Ms. Niyah) are the best. I have no idea HOW they manage and do what they do, day in and out, with these babies, but I believe they are simply magical human beings. It's so wonderful to have a peace of mind, knowing your child is safe and happy, while they are away from you--a home away from home. I don't think I've felt this secure being away from him ever. Thank you Elders--Ms. Shantell/Ms. Kya/Ms. Mesha. You all run a well-oiled business. I am a pleased and happy Mommy! Highly recommend!
