Amberleigh Children's Den is a small family child care and preschool program in Alexandria, VA. My home-based daycare is located in the Amberleigh neighborhood, near Beulah St (route 613). I'm conveniently located for commuters since I'm close to Franconia-Springfield Pkwy (route 289) and Telegraph Rd (route 611) and also just a few minutes’ drive from the I-95 Henry G. Shirley Memorial Hwy.

About Me:
Hi, parents! I’m the owner and I have 5 years of experience in child care and early childhood education. Before opening my own daycare, I worked as an assistant teacher for a Sunday school.
I’d say working with kids is very challenging, but it’s one of the most rewarding jobs in the world. I get a chance to spend time with them and be part of their early stages of life to help them reach their full potential. Also, it’s always fun to work with children because there’s never a dull moment :) My genuine love and passion for children make this job so easy for me.
Program:
Amberleigh Children's Den is open all year from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I offer full-time and part-time infant care (starting at 3 months old) and also accommodate toddlers and preschoolers up to 4 years old. For school-age kids, I can offer before and after school care until 12 years old (my house is near Lane Elementary School and Island Creek Elementary School).
I provide lunch and snacks to all kids attending my program and these are already included in the tuition. We maintain a peanut-free and tree-nut free environment to prevent potentially life-threatening allergies. In addition to English, I also speak Amharic and can expose your child to this foreign language upon request (however, my daycare is not a bilingual program).
Curriculum:
Amberleigh Children's Den follows the play-based teaching approach. My curriculum includes teaching the kids ABCs, shapes, and colors. For infants, I read them books and we practice tummy time. I also focus on teaching toddlers how to write. We often take small field trips (with parents' permission, of course) in order to help your child learn more about the community. There’s also a 2-minute walk community playground nearby where I take the kids to play outdoors when the weather is nice.

My 3-year-old son absolutely adores this daycare. It's not your typical center; they follow a structured schedule with diverse activities, and the owner provides academic instruction, creating a preschool-like environment in a home setting. Previously, my son attended another preschool where he cried at drop off daily. However, since transitioning here, he now loves going to school. Her patience and care has brought about significant changes in him in a short time. She keeps parents informed with regular updates and sends pictures, providing much-needed reassurance. Her three lovely kids love to play with them after school and her Husband is so kind as well. I can't express enough gratitude for this home care; it's truly been a blessing for my son, and I appreciate every aspect of it. Thank You.

Our daughter loves this caregiver. She has been so comfortable there from day 1. she had never been in daycare before. every morning when we pull into the parking lot, she is excited to go in and cannot wait. She sends us photos daily and always provides an update at the end of the day of how her day went. What she ate how long she slept. I really couldn’t ask for more.

We absolutely love this caregiver! Our girls have been going to her for the past 4 months. They have fun, they learn, and they’re always well taken care of. She always gives me detailed updates and sends pictures during the day. I’ve had no complaints since the girls have been going there, and would recommend her to anybody!

I found this daycare just right in my quiet and safe neighborhood. When I first visited this daycare, I immediately knew this is going to be the daycare for my 4 months old boy Leo. The house is clean and has many toys to play with. Her husband Elias also helps with the kids sometime and their 3 kids also like to play with the kids when they get home from school. It is such lovely daycare, and Leo loves going there to spend time with them. She sends photo every couple hours to give me updates on my baby. She also notes down how much my baby eats, naps, and how many wet diaper in a day. Leo is my first child, and it was difficult to send him to a daycare. However, she and her family made this transit much easy for me. I can now work work at ease knowing Leo is in good hands!

I have known her for a long time and I she knows many things about how to raise kids. And also her kids are happy and she has a very good relationship with kids and her husband. She plays with my kids all the time when she baby sits them. She has very good family values and she is focused. l really like it. All her children are very responsible, she has a very calm and mature personality.
