Abeka Book's systematic phonics program teaches students to read at an early age. Students also receive strong character-building reading selections. For elementary age students, spelling, vocabulary, and poetry help students improve their ability to read, write, think creatively and speak. Penmanship is taught at age 4 with their name, small words and the alphabet. Cursive writing is introduced in grade 1 and improved throughout the other elementary grades.
