Welcome to Green Hill Child Development Center, our licensed child care center and preschool in Silver Spring, MD! About The Staff Our experienced Director brings years of expertise in early childhood education, and our dedicated staff members are all qualified professionals who are CPR and First Aid certified, as well as MAT trained (we can administer medication to children in our care when needed). As a family-owned center operating since 1974, we've built a legacy of quality care and early education spanning over 50 years! Teaching Philosophy We believe every child is unique and thrives through encouragement and praise. Our teachers and caregivers help students build self-confidence by providing proper guidance, positive feedback, and recognition. We nurture each child and bring out their best, helping them see the world around them with wonder and awe. Our diverse staff takes pride in teaching children about cultural diversity and creating an inclusive, welcoming environment. Curriculum We follow the Creative Curriculum, a nationally recognized, research-based program that uses intentional teaching strategies aligned with the Maryland Model for School Readiness (MMSR). Children learn through play, exploration, songs, movement, read-aloud story time, and hands-on activities that promote development across all areas: cognitive, social emotional, physical, and language. Our curriculum is primarily in English, but we also introduce Spanish. Program Our child care and preschool program operates Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We provide full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 6 weeks, toddlers, and preschoolers up to 5 years old. We maintain small group sizes with low staff-to-child ratios (1:3 for infants/toddlers and 1:6 for preschool) to ensure personalized attention and quality care. Breakfast and afternoon snacks are included in our program; parents provide lunch. We're also open during the summer and offer a fun summer camp program! Location Green Hill Child Development Center is located in the Takoma Park neighborhood of Silver Spring, MD. Our facility is right off Sligo Creek Parkway (between Piney Branch Road and Maple Avenue) with easy access to Philadelphia Avenue (Route 410) and Carroll Avenue (Route 195).
