About

MindBloom Preschool has evolved into a top resource for discovering the ways young children should be learning foreign languages. For several years, MindBloom Preschool has thrived as a creative project-based multi-lingual immersion and STEM/STEAM micro school for children ages 2-5 years, as well as offering dynamic out of school time programming and camps for older children after school and during the winter and summer breaks. Our school is open year-round and specifically caters to families who value education and an internationally-focused curriculum for their children within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas, as we offer a choice of either Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, or Arabic language curriculum tracks for their children. Our team of educators is unique and teaches a daily Science-based and hands-on Arts curriculum containing a myriad of age-appropriate topics over a span of several weeks to support understanding.

Our experience at Mindbloom Preschool was horrendous. The staff there has never had a single positive or loving thing to say about 2-year-old child. The activities they do for their mixed aged classroom are not suitable for 2-year-olds which include using scissors (not safety scissors) with minimal supervision, and punitive and outdated discipline methods that violate OSSE policies including withholding outdoor play for timeouts. The director, Susan Banks sends unprofessional and bizarre emails. The school has attempted to charge us fines for late pickups and later retracted those fees when we provided evidence that we had not been late for pickups. Our child came home injured from this school and instead of being aware of it or responded with accountability, the school chose to blame my 2-year-old because he wasn't asleep during nap-time and the staff couldn't be bothered to attempt to soothe him while he cried on the floor. If you want your child in a loving and safe environment, this is not the place for you.

We are so glad we found Mindbloom! We are an English/Arabic speaking household and really wanted to find a way for our son to get exposure to more Arabic through school or daycare. It is really hard to find Arabic options in DC, so we were enthusiastic when we saw that Mindbloom has an Arabic classroom. In just 9 months our son has shown immense improvement. Moreover, he is excited about Arabic! He still shows a preference for English (our community language), but I delight in the fact that now when he walks upstairs he counts the stairs in Arabic, not English. My son also knows Spanish because of his nanny from ages 0-2 and I love that he also gets Spanish exposure at Mindbloom, especially during aftercare. Languages are very important to our family and we've had a lovely experience at Mindbloom. Our son comes home weekly with tons of things he has made at school and his teacher sends him home with things we can use to help him continue to develop his Arabic at home (like flashcards or a matching game). Lastly, they have been very Covid-cautious which we love not only because it protects our son, but also because they have never closed. It helps me to know that I can count on my son's school to stay open.

The past year at MindBloom has been an amazing experience. So much so that we decided to keep our child here for kindergarten. The director and staff are truly committed to the children’s advancement, understanding of the language and curriculum. Our daughter loves attending school and being exposed to multiple languages. MindBloom is a gem in the DMV and we’re so fortunate to have our little attend.
Response from the provider:
Wow, thank you so much! We also appreciate your family's commitment to our programming as well as your love of global learning. We look forward to moving with you into your child's next chapter and are excited you have chosen us to help you educate your child for Kindergarten. Stay tuned for very special things to come. It's not every day we can host a 4-year-old in our Kindergarten program--amazing!
