About

Curriculum Our curriculum identifies goals in all domains of development: Social: feeling comfortable in school, trusting their new environment, making friends, and feeling they are a part of the group. Emotional: experiencing pride and self- confidence, developing independence and self-control, and having a positive attitude toward life. Cognitive: becoming confident learners by letting them try out their own ideas and experience success, and helping them acquire learning skills such as the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations, and feelings. Physical: increasing large and small muscle skills and feeling confident about what their bodies can do. It is very important to us to have a clean, safe environment. We have an abundance of hands on activities and a lot of outside playtime. Who am I? Hola!!! My name is Barbara Sanchez but my students and the parents call me Sra. Sanchez. I was born in Ohio and grew up in Puerto Rico where I received my Bachelor degree of Education in Special Education and Elementary. For Two years, I was a Special Education Teacher in Puerto Rico, Kindergarten teacher, and Second Grade Teacher for 7 years in Baltimore City, and two years in 1st to 3rd grades in The New Century School. I have more than 10 years of experience as an educator, therefore, I decided that it was finally my opportunity to bring my creativity, knowledge and passion to teach a second language in Harford County. I believe that exposing our children to education through another language not only builds upon their confidence but expands their minds. I also have received International Baccalaureate PYP training, and I am planning to use the tenet of the International Baccalaureate to illume, guide and encourage my students to open their minds, ask questions, find answers and to expose them to the whole world. My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique and each child learns in a different way. One of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside with them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively and learning through play.
