New Brookside Bilingual Playhouse, Alexandria

Welcome to New Brookside Bilingual Playhouse, my intimate child care and preschool program in Alexandria, VA! I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have almost a decade of child care experience. I hold a Child Development Associates degree and I’m CPR and First-aid certified. I run a Spanish bilingual daycare which means your child will learn Spanish in addition to English. This is a wonderful opportunity for your little one to become bilingual at a young age! As a mother of 3 myself, I can relate to your aspirations when it comes to finding safe and nurturing care for your child.

I follow the Play-based learning philosophy and use the Creative Curriculum. This approach allows children to learn through play and helps me to integrate fun activities such as Drawing, Arts & Crafts, etc. My program also focuses on life skills (learning manners) and early literacy and academics (e.g. story time, etc.) I also use the ECC (Everyone Can Create) program, a new curriculum that allows teachers to integrate drawing, music or photography into their existing lesson plans (this is part of Apple’s successful Everyone Can Code initiative as one-of-a-kind programs for teachers that keep students excited and engaged).

My licensed daycare is open year-round between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I provide full-time care for infants as young as 3 months, as well as toddlers through preschoolers up to 5 years old. If weather permits, I take my little student to the community park for outdoor playtime. I also offer before and after school care for older kids, up to 6 years old (my home is near Charles Barrett Elementary School, St Rita's School, and Grace Episcopal School). Drop-in care is also available for your occasional needs. Meals are included in the tuition and provided to all children attending my program. I serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and if you'd like, I can also offer dinner if your child leaves late in the afternoon. Due to possible allergies, I run peanut and tree-nut free environment. My daycare accepts families who qualify for Head Start and Early Head Start. Head Start (and Early Head Start) programs are free, federally funded programs that offer early childhood education, as well as health and nutrition services to low-income families. They're designed to promote school readiness and enhance children's physical and emotional well-being. Early Head Start caters to families with children under the age of 3, while Head Start serves children between 3 and 5 years old.

New Brookside Bilingual Playhouse is in the New Brookside apartment complex in Alexandria, VA. I’m right off Mt. Vernon Ave (S Arlington Ridge Rd) and S Glebe Rd (route 120). I'm also conveniently located for your commute to work since my home has easy access to the I-395 and Jefferson Davis Hwy (US-1).
