Our Impressions
Maple Grove Estates Childcare is a family child care program run by an experienced caregiver who is a mom of six grown children with 13 years of experience in the industry and a Child Development Associate's. This spacious home-based program offers a play-based teaching philosophy and is geared toward children under 3 years old. The daycare facilities are clean with lots of natural light and tons of age-appropriate toys that create an inviting and playful environment. Weather permitting children spend two hours playing in the very large grassy fenced yard with tons of outdoor toys and equipment. The program is well-situated near major highways, metro stations, a bus stop and a mall.
School Environment
Maple Grove Estates Childcare is conveniently located within a couple of miles from the I-95 & I-495, the Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn metro stations, and the Springfield Mall. This is a spacious and bright daycare that offers year-round care for children 4 weeks through 3 years old in a pet and smoke-free home. Maple Grove Estates Childcare has been in business for 13 years serving civilian and military families alike. Meals are not provided, so parents send lunch from home. The provider encourages nursing mothers to send breast milk, or to stop by during the day to nurse their little ones. She has an open door policy and encourages parents to come by at any time. Maple Grove Estates Childcare has a standard vacation and sick policy. If a child is sick with 101 fever or loose bowels, he/she must be picked up within an hour and be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to daycare. The program does not offer reduced tuition due to illness or vacation. Maple Grove Estates Childcare does participate in a subsidized child care program, but parents have to cover any remaining amount of tuition.
Learning Environment
Maple Grove Estates Childcare follows a play-based teaching philosophy that uses redirection for discipline and helps children develop social and motor skills, including good manners. Math, physical activity, art and music are all part of a daily curriculum with the greatest emphasis put on reading and writing. The daycare has a maximum capacity of 12 kids and the program is individualized to the needs of each child with monthly assessments of their development. There's no television at Maple Grove Estates Childcare and weather-permitting, children get two hours of daily outdoor activity in the spacious fenced-in grassy backyard. The lead teacher, is a native Amharic speaker and upon request from the parents can use it with the children.
Teachers

She has raised 6 of her own grown children and has 10 grandchildren. This provider is CPR, First Aid and M.A.T. certified and is able to administer prescription medication.

I love this provider with all my heart. She cares for my daughter like she cares for her own grandkids, and she treats us all like family. This provider is also very responsive anytime I need to contact her. She helped us make many transitions from infant things (swaddles, bottles) to toddler things (solids, two-to-one nap/day). My daughter literally jumps out of my hands to get down to play when I drop her off. I cannot advocate more strongly... more

I cannot say enough great things about this daycare. The provider is loving, caring, and nurturing. My son had been at a different in-home care center before we moved him to her and he absolutely blossomed. My daughter has been with her since Day 1 and is flourishing. She lets kids be kids - they run and play and have fun - but also ensures that they know their letters, number, colors, and songs. They have never cried at drop-off and instead run... more

As new parents it was important to find a provider that would give us the reassurance our son would be safe, happy and healthy. The provider treated our son like he was one of their own. Over the two years we were there they became family and my son loved every minute. He was always so excited to go to daycare. Some days I think he would have preferred to stay. I never doubted my son was in the best hands, and loved.

We cannot recommend this provider and the lovely ladies here enough. Our daughter has been coming here since she was a couple months old, and she has the best time there. The providers treat her like family and truly love her. We know she is safe and happy during the day, and that she is learning and playing with her little buddies there. Moreover, we know she is being treated like family throughout the day.

The provider and her team are absolutely wonderfully. We were nervous sending our 11 week old to daycare but we were quickly comforting by this provider. She and her team are incredibly loving, attuned to each child, and gracious people. I always felt confident that my son was safe and well taken care of. The provider and her staff truly love each child like their own. We were so sad to leave when we moved out of state. The provider and her... more

This provider and her team are simply amazing! We had our daughter here from 12 weeks until 11 months when we sadly moved out of state. I am positive we would've kept her there until she aged out if we had stayed in the area. The facilities are always clean, they keep the kids on a daily schedule (which was important for us) and there is tons of learning/play activities. We also liked that she was in a mixed age environment as we believe this... more

We are first time parents so it was really a big concern to find a daycare where safety, happiness and well-being of the child were most important. This daycare was our last stop in the evening during our hunt for daycare and as soon as we met her, we realized this was the place for our kid and that we could not have found a better place. Our son was in this daycare from November 2016 - June 2017; after which we had to change daycare owing to... more

As a law enforcement family, it was very important for us to find safe child care for our daughter provided by people that we could trust. We searched private, small day cares in our area and were so happy to find this one! This provider loves the children so much and gives great advice to us, and the other staff really engage with the children and show them a lot of attention. My daughter has been here for nearly two years (since she was four... more

As a transplant to the DMV area I didn't have any family nearby to help when my LO arrived. Needing to head straight to work after a short maternity leave I was very nervous about leaving my world with people that were both unfamiliar to me and my little guy. In a short time this provider and her wonderful team became my LO extended family and every morning upon our arrival he smiles widely and can't wait for one of the ladies to give him his... more

As a first time parent going back to work your primary concern is the safety and well-being of your most precious gift in the world, right? Upon touring this place and subsequently choosing this provider., Cookie, and Birke for care for my son, I am confident we could not have made a better choice. His first day at daycare I was worried only about me missing him - not about the care he was in. These women LOVE all these kids and it really shows.... more

First and foremost, I used the Va Dept of Social Services site to research daycares' violations and this place had minimal to none, which is unheard of. And second, I was looking for a "home away from home," since my parents live on the other side of the country. The owner is like a grandmother to my infant and I actually feel like she and her staff are family. I toured about a dozen home daycares and this is the only one that resembled... more

My mother was planning to help us watch our son as I returned to work after my maternity leave, but unfortunately, my mother had been in a car accident and was unable to help. As you can imagine, the waitlist for infant daycare can range from 8-18 months, so, as a new mother, I was stressed that I would not find a safe, loving and nurturing environment for my newborn son. We visited a number of centers and we interviewed several people for... more

While pregnant with our first child I made childcare arrangements that fell through the week before I was to return to work. In a panic I quickly contacted and interviewed with many providers in the local area. After my previous arrangements fell through I was very concerned about finding a reliable caregiver to leave my daughter with. During our visit with this provider we immediately felt her warmth and caring for the children. She... more

My daughter has been in this provider's care for the past year. At a time when I really needed a good child care provider when I went back to work full time, She was exactly what I needed. She cares for my daughter as her own, and I know that my daughter is in good care every single day. This provider is caring, knowledgeable, and one of the kindest people I know. She goes out of her way to be accommodating to our schedules and is always... more

The closest family my husband and I have are over two hours away, so finding this daycare was so comforting to us - the owner provides amazing care for our daughter, and has since she was 8 weeks old. She loves our daughter as much as we do - honestly, this owner and her team are more than just childcare providers, they are an extension of our family that we love to see and couldn't be happier with!

I have had my son in this provider's care since he was 9 months old and couldn't be happier. As a first time mom, I was terrified at the thought of leaving my child somewhere when it was time for me to go back to work; however, she eased that fear and immediately took him in as a member of her own family. Additionally, I'm a single mother, so she has been very accommodating to some of my needs-- something that I've always appreciated. My son was... more

My family became a part of this provider's extended family from the day my 4-month old daughter started in her care. We had my daughter in another at-home daycare for a month and knew it wasn't right. When we moved her to this childcare, we instantly knew that we had found an individual who would nurture and care for our daughter as she would her own child or grandchild. There was never a doubt in our mind that both our daughter, and eventually... more

If you are looking for loving, trustworthy care for your children, look no further than this daycare! The provider cared for my twin sons as if they were members of her own family during their early toddler years, and they loved her dearly. One of my sons is deaf and has other special needs, and the provider and her staff were very attentive to his development, even working with one of his behavioral therapists. She is kind, generous, and... more

My children started with this provider when they were seven weeks old. As a first time mom I was nervous to leave my children with ANYONE! After seeing her with the children I knew my children would be well taken care of. Not only is she passionate about her program, her hours were very accommodating as well. I worked at Children's National Medical Center and my husband worked for the Marine Corps. This provider genuinely cares for her children... more

I served as a Marine Corps officer and had two children that attended this school. The owner provides not only a daycare but a full immersion in education and development. She truly loves the kids under her care as our own. She prepared our children for the future. We trust her and you should too. There is no other provider like her.
