Bright Beginnings School Age Child Care

Bright Beginnings is a MD State licensed Before & After School program that combines the best qualities of a small center with in home family care. As an in home provider, I am able to provide some flexibility to families. Because I only provide care to school age children, I am able to focus on their unique needs. I provide homework help and we do additional reading, STEM, art, and fitness. Breakfast and an afternoon snack are included. I have several substitutes available to provide continued care in my absence. I am open most days including early dismissals and teacher inservice days. We love to take advantage of full days to go on field trips - some of our field trips include the MD Science Center and the National Aquarium. Although our days are structured, our schedule provides flexibility to allow child-led activities and social interaction. There are plenty of opportunities for movement and play - even during homework time - we replaced our chairs with balance balls, provide clipboards so kids can stand, and we have several fidget toys. We spend a lot of time outdoors - even in light rain and snow. Our exciting outdoor play space includes a teeter totter, low zip line, climbing dome, and a large Rainbow play set with a climbing deck, tire swing, swings, slide, and a rope swing. Kids can also choose to curl up in the cozy reading center or visit our art area for creative expression. Your child's safety and well being is my utmost concern; we practice emergency drills at least once per month and review procedures weekly. As a licensed provider, I follow state child care and fire code regulations. I am CPR and first aid certified and maintain continuing education in the childcare field.
