Welcome to Winwood Children’s Center our beautiful daycare center and preschool in Ashburn, VA. We are on the northeast corner of Claiborne Parkway and Hay Road, close to both Stone Bridge High School and Ashburn Library.
About The Director:
My name is Allison Grimmett, and I’m the director of the center. I currently have my Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Studies/Education from George Mason University and have over 15 years of experience in early childhood education ranging from classroom teaching to management experience. My favorite thing about working with children is having the opportunity to watch them grow and develop. It’s inspiring to watch each child grow and know that I was fortunate enough to play a role in their learning and development through the years. I can honestly say that each day with children is a learning experience for me as much as it is for them!
Curriculum:
We take a skills-based approach to early childhood education that balances academic, social, emotional, creative, and physical development. Our Ascend Curriculum provides every age group from Infant to Pre-Kindergarten a progressive series of activities, skills, and milestones across 9 diverse subject areas such as Baby Signs, Literacy, Cultural Understanding, Physical Fitness, and Kind Child so we can make the most of these first educational experiences.
Our Kind Child Program is a proprietary program that allows us to help our preschool students develop character and social skills. Our goal is to improve the emotional well-being of each child in our care and help our students build strong friendships.
Kind Child programming is included in our monthly curriculum and kindness is a fundamental part of our preschool’s culture. We focus on new social-emotional skills each month and a different character trait like a Positive Self-Image or Thankfulness every two months. We have found that when we focus on the social and emotional well-being of our students, we strengthen our school too!
