About The Staff
International Children's House in Columbia, MD was founded in 2017 as a Montessori School. The owner and director has more than 10 years of experience working with children from infants to high school. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Spanish with an emphasis on humanities. She runs her Montessori child care center and preschool with her 2 assistants who have 27 years of combined experience. They both hold a Bachelor's degree and are CPR & First-aid certified.
They strive to educate the whole child and inspire children to be caring, socially responsible participants in their community and world. Their approach to education is based on the philosophy and methods of Maria Montessori, the first Italian female physician who founded the first Montessori school in Rome in 1907. Dr. Montessori believed that the goal of the educational process was to cultivate a child's natural desire to learn.
International Children's House strives to help each child develop independence, self-direction, self-acceptance, feelings of membership and responsibility in a social group. They also work to build children's interest and joy in learning and living through the different areas of knowledge through their Montessori and S.T.E.A.M. program.
The staff strives to create and sustain an optimum Montessori educational environment to enable each child to realize his or her richest potential for learning and to become an independent, self-motivated, and contributing member of the world community.
Curriculum & Program
International Children's House provides activities that promote social, emotional, and intellectual development with programs such as Spanish, Music, Yoga, Montessori Curriculum, and S.T.E.A.M (which is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics). Their highly trained and credentialed teachers nurture and cultivate children's curiosity while providing a strong foundation for continued academic success.
They offer a warm, vibrant, educational program designed to foster a love of learning and help all children reach their fullest potential at their own unique pace. Their carefully prepared classroom is staffed with highly qualified, Montessori-certified Lead Guides (head teachers) and trained staff. All children attending their program are provided with snacks (included in the tuition).
Parents are welcome and encouraged to be an active part of their child's education. We invite them to observe in the classroom, join us on exploratory field trips, help us organize school events or fundraisers, and connect with each other informally, creating a network that links the classroom to the community, and in turn, to the world.
We would love to meet you and your family in person, please send us an email to schedule a visit :)
