About

Teaching, Learning, Caring In Home Child Care uses MSDE approved The Creative Curriculum for Family Childcare from Teaching Strategies, Inc. along with Innovations The Comprehensive Infant Curriculum and Innovations The Comprehensive Toddler Curriculum. Also a Learning Through Play Curriculum with lesson plans for ages 2 -5 years old in the following areas: Math, Dramatic Play, Cooking, Language, Sand, Water, Clay & Wood, Music & Movement, Art, Science, Problem Solving and Blocks. While all of these are integrated into the on going learning process, a strong influence from Magda Gerber and RIE is a core foundation based on respecting each child. "Respect is the basis of the RIE philosophy. Respecting a child means treating even the youngest infant as a unique human being, not as an object. This facility is set back inside a quiet cul-de-sac, in a single-family home. The back yard is fenced and has assorted outdoor play equipment designed for infants and older children. Picnic areas are available for the more outdoor time when the weather is appropriate. Within the home, there is a center type of set up with an Infant Safety Play Zone. The best of both worlds, being in a family home, not institutional, offering numerous options for the safety of your child and learning experiences to take place. Laurie Alcock, Educarer is a recipient of numerous awards for her program that has been serving the Howard County Community since 1994. Her awards were given for Health, Safety, and Nurturing. This is a unique opportunity to have your child(ren) as part of a small learning group, preparing them with life skills for future successes.
