I am a Licensed Daycare Provider since 1996. I am enrolled in the Food Program and provide all meals and snacks. I do lessons daily. All week we concentrate on the letter and number of the week. We do our calendar daily and usually have at least one craft a week. Throughout the day during play, I am teaching colors and shapes. About age 3, the children start writing their names. I can usually guarantee by the time they start school they will know how to write their first and last name and recognize letters and numbers. I also introduce Sight Words. We do lessons but also spend time playing and being a kid. Throughout our day they are learning manners, how to share and how to be a good friend. As long as the weather permits and we can get outside to play either on the concrete fenced area riding bikes and scooters or we play in the fenced yard on what the kids call the playground. The kids learn but also are relaxed and just being kids. I have had many families bring me their children as babies and I see them go off to school. We have fun and learn at the same time.
