Welcome to Little Ox Discovery House, a licensed home daycare and preschool in Fairfax Station, VA! We’re a licensed child care program serving families with a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. Our program is conveniently located in the Parvis Estates community, just off Chapel Rd (Route 641), Ox Rd (SR 123), and near Little Ox Rd, with easy access to Fairfax County Pkwy (SR 286).

Program:

We’re open year-round from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We offer full-time daycare for infants as young as 5 weeks old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old. We also provide before and after-school care for children up to 12 years old and are conveniently located near Fairview Elementary School.

Little Ox Discovery House participates in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), so breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided daily and included in tuition. To help keep every child safe, especially those with food allergies, we maintain a peanut-free and tree nut-free environment.

About Me:

Hi, parents! I’m the owner and primary caregiver at Little Ox Discovery House. Caring for children has been my passion for more than 18 years, and I love creating a warm, loving environment where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged to learn and grow.

In addition to my professional child care experience, I’m also the proud mom of two grown children, so I understand the trust families place in those who care for their little ones. I’m CPR and First Aid certified and committed to providing the highest level of care for every child.

I speak English, Spanish, Farsi, and Urdu fluently. Families who are interested are welcome to have their children learn the basics of these languages through everyday conversations, play, and activities while celebrating the richness of different cultures.

Curriculum:

At Little Ox Discovery House, we follow a play-based preschool curriculum that encourages children to learn through exploration, creativity, and hands-on, age-appropriate activities. Our preschool program helps children build a strong foundation for kindergarten by developing letter recognition, early literacy, numbers, shapes, colors, and basic math skills.

Each day includes a variety of enriching activities such as story time, circle time, arts and crafts, coloring, painting, music, singing, dancing, sensory play, and imaginative play. When the weather is nice, children also enjoy plenty of outdoor time in our large private backyard playground, where they stay active, strengthen gross motor skills, and explore nature. 🌳

To provide an even more well-rounded early learning experience, we offer a weekly enrichment program led by a specialized music teacher. During these interactive classes, children explore music through singing, rhythm activities, and hands-on opportunities to play a variety of musical instruments, helping inspire creativity, self-expression, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

In addition to preparing children academically, we focus on building confidence, independence, communication skills, and social-emotional development in a nurturing, supportive, and home-like environment. We believe children learn best when they feel loved, engaged, and excited to explore the world around them.
