We are just minutes from Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy (US-50) and Fairfax County Pkwy (SR 286), making daily drop-offs and pick-ups simple and stress-free. I’m very accessible to commuters since I’m close to Stringfellow Rd and Fair Lakes Pkwy / Fair Lakes Blvd, and a few minutes from the I-66. We are also close to Greenbriar East Elementary School, which is especially convenient for families with older siblings in Fairfax County.

Our home daycare also features a safe, fenced outdoor play area and dedicated indoor learning spaces, with a separate nap room where children can explore, play, grow and rest comfortably throughout the day.

Program:

Our daycare and preschool program in Fairfax, VA operates year-round, Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. We offer both full-time and part-time childcare for infants starting at 6 weeks old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old. For families in need of occasional childcare, we also provide drop-in care.

We warmly welcome children with special needs, with a particular focus on those who may require support with behavioral development. We work closely with families to understand each child's unique needs and provide appropriate care. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and caring environment where each child is treated with patience, respect, and understanding.

As part of the USDA-approved Food Program, we provide nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks each day. We also proudly welcome families with childcare subsidy vouchers, making quality care accessible for our community.

About Me:

Hello parents! I am the owner and primary caregiver at Greenbriar Discovery House. With over 10 years of hands-on childcare experience, an MBA, and certifications in CPR and First Aid, I focus on creating a nurturing and dependable environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore.

I am fluent in both English and Thai, and upon request, I am happy to introduce children to basic Thai language and cultural elements as part of their early learning experience.

I opened Greenbriar Discovery House out of a real passion for working with young children and supporting families in their early childhood journey. I believe every child deserves individualized attention in a home-like setting where they can feel comfortable and confident.

Building strong, trusting relationships with families is also a priority for me, as it helps create consistency between home and daycare. My goal is to provide a place where children feel happy, secure, and truly at home.

Curriculum:

At Greenbriar Discovery House, we follow a play-based learning approach combined with the STREAMin3 curriculum. This allows us to support early development while keeping learning engaging and age-appropriate.

Children are introduced to foundational concepts in science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and mathematics through hands-on activities and guided play. Each activity is adapted to the child’s developmental stage, interests, and learning pace.

We focus on building social skills, independence, and confidence in a nurturing, home-like environment. Children are encouraged to express themselves, form friendships, and explore their curiosity every day. For older children, we occasionally introduce age-appropriate technology such as tablets or computers as guided learning tools, always used in moderation and under supervision.

We also maintain open communication with parents through video cameras and a secure, family-only live-streaming app, allowing you to stay connected to your child’s daily activities and progress.

Daily Activities:

Each day at our Fairfax daycare begins with a warm welcome and free play, helping children ease into the day while developing social and problem-solving skills. Circle time includes songs, stories, and interactive discussions about colors, shapes, weather, and seasonal themes. Language development is supported through storytelling and daily conversation.

We incorporate sensory play such as water, sand, and texture exploration, along with arts and crafts to support creativity and fine motor development. We also enjoy simple, supervised cooking activities that help children build confidence, follow directions, and explore new foods. Children also engage in age-appropriate early learning activities such as counting, matching, sorting, letter recognition, and simple problem-solving.

Outdoor play is included whenever weather permits, with activities that support physical development like running, climbing, and group games. Music and movement activities are also part of the daily routine to encourage expression and coordination.

In the afternoon, children have time to rest or nap, allowing them to recharge. Throughout the day, we also reinforce practical life skills such as handwashing, tidying up, and independence. From time to time, we may also organize small, age-appropriate outings or neighborhood walks to give children new experiences and opportunities to explore the world around them.

Our program balances structure and flexibility, creating a positive environment where children can learn, grow, and enjoy each day.
