About Us
Dear parents, welcome to Pohick Estates Children's Place, my home daycare in Lorton, VA! I am the owner and lead teacher, and I’m a mother of 2 myself, with 20 years of experience. I am also CPR and First Aid certified, as well as MAT trained (so I can administer medication to your child if needed.)
I run our family child care and preschool program with my assistant, who is also a mother (she has 3 children!), and has almost 10 years of experience. Our goal is to provide your child with a safe and fun early learning environment, where they can learn and play.
Our Home Daycare
We are open from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We offer both full-time and part-time daycare for children between the ages of 6 weeks through 5 years old. We care mostly for children under 6 years old, but if you have an older sibling who attends Gunston Elementary School and can walk from the school bus, I can offer after-school care (I cannot provide transportation of pick-up though).
We provide breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks to the children in our care (included in the tuition), and offer a peanut-free and treenut-free environment.
Location
Pohick Estates Children's Place is in the Pohick Estates area of Lorton (near Pohick Estates Park), between the Lorton Station and Davison Army Airfield. My home daycare is very conveniently located off Pohick Rd, just a few minutes away from the I-95, and with easy access to Telegraph Rd (route 611) and Richmond Hwy (route 1).

The owner and staff are all so amazing. My kids have been coming here since they were newborns and I wouldn’t have anyone else take care of them. The owner loves and takes care of all of the kids as they are her own. My kids look forward to going to daycare everyday and some days don’t even want to leave! First and foremost let me start by saying, the very first day of touring the daycare facility, Staff were very welcoming and showed great professionalism the owner herself, showed hospitality with also providing very detailed information about how the home daycare was being ran. The owner and her staff are amazing!! They have a schedule and structure that reminds you of a preschool class. They make sure that all kids are exposed to the basic (alphabets, shapes, numbers, etc). My kids have a great time and have learned a lot in only 6/7 weeks. We are so grateful!

My daughter has been attending this daycare for going on 2 years now and she loves it. I am beyond surprised with all that she’s learned, from ABC’s, 123’s, Months of the year, and much more. She demonstrates exercising routines ie jumping jacks, stretching etc. (she’s only 2 yrs old) I’m not sure what the actual curriculum is but it appears to be working.I haven’t had any major issues and we trust the facility.

The love and care and protection she provides to our granddaughter and special needs grandson is a God send! We are truly blessed that she is in our lives. She and her staff are Angels sent from heaven! Highly recommended.

My daughter is 8 months old and started attending this provider's school at 6 months (April 2021). And she is thriving there! I can't comment on the curriculum, since my daughter is still an infant. But she has friends and teachers who care about her! This daycare is her second home!

This provider is truly fantastic. When my wife and I were looking for a place to enroll our first-born daughter, this provider stood out amongst the rest. We are so lucky to have her as our child care provider. I love that even though my daughter is an infant she is still included in all the activities with the other kids. She is very knowledgeable and as a first time parent, her guidance has been extremely helpful. I would highly recommend her to any parent.

My daughter has been going here for about 2.5 years. She has learned a lot and always looks forward going to this provider. She always tries to do activities with the kids. With COVID she has been extra cautious on making sure items and the facility are cleaned thoroughly multiple times a day. Definitely know my daughter is in good hands when I drop her off with this provider.

The providers care so much about the children and it is evident in the attitude of the children and their excitement when they are dropped off. Both of my children received the best care a mother and father could ask for. My children have thrived here and I wholeheartedly recommend these providers.

When I first moved to Lorton, I was mortified of the thought of finding daycare again for my son but then I met this provider. After my first visit I instantly knew that she was the perfect fit because it felt comfortable and my son adapting fairly quick (he calls all the other children his cousins lol). My son has been going there since he was 6 weeks old and he now is 2 years old. I loved all the great learning and fun activities they do with the children. My daughter, Olivia, loves the teachers and students. She has been attending the school since 2014. The preschool curriculum is steady paced and aligns with Fairfax County preK and kindergarten requirements. My daughter enjoys her time and has made lots of friends. I like the teachers and the holiday parties and trips outside of school. They seem to have a wide array of activities. Lunches could be on the healthier side.
