Thanks for your interest in Beddoo Heights Bilingual Kids Playhouse in Alexandria, VA. We are a licensed home-based daycare and preschool located in the Beddoo Heights neighborhood. My licensed child care facility is off Richmond Hwy (US-1), and just a few minutes drive from Fort Hunt Rd (route 629) and S Kings Hwy (route 633).
About Me
I’m the owner and main caregiver with a decade of professional experience in child care and early childhood education. I hold a Child Development Associates’ Degree, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I also have CPR & First-aid certifications. My goal is to offer quality care in safe, intimate, and loving environment where every child feels at home.
Curriculum
Beddoo Heights Bilingual Kids Playhouse follows the play-based teaching philosophy, with elements of the Montessori approach. I run a bilingual Spanish daycare, so children are exposed to Spanish in addition to English. I can also teach them the Portuguese language upon your request. My curriculum consists of age-appropriate activities and daily learning activities that are both in English and Spanish, which include songs, letters, and colors.
I teach all kids basic math, the alphabet, and shapes and help them prepare for kindergarten. My daycare offers lots of creative and educational activities such as music, dance, arts & crafts, story time, and much more. If weather permits, children spend time outside daily, in my backyard playground.
I have age-appropriate toys and activity sets for infants and toddlers. My daycare areas are labeled and well-organized, which makes the overall space feel warm and individualized for each child. There are also separate play and nap rooms and lots of space for physical and learning activities.
Program
My family child care and preschool program is open year-round from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. I can provide full-time and part-time care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers between the age of 3 months and 2 and a half years old. For parents who are just looking for occasional child care needs, drop-in care is the best option. We also accept military families who have subsidy (vouchers).
Children attending my program are served with peanut and tree-nut free lunch and snacks (both included in the tuition). I can prepare special food for vegetarians and accommodate children with special dietary needs.

They have been incredible caretakers for our son. They have nurtured him as if he were their own. I'm constantly amazed at the things he has learned while there. Every day he comes home with a new skill or vocabulary word and he clearly has a lot of fun. Our son truly sees them as family and we couldn't ask for a more perfect place.

Our son has been with this caregiver since he was 18 weeks old and we’ve never regretted the decision to put him in her daycare for one minute. The owner and her assistants are very caring and loving. We love this home-based daycare. She makes all food from scratch which makes it even more attractive for us. I highly recommend this place.

We’ve enrolled our son at this daycare a bit over a month ago and so far it’s been great! Our 1-year-old adjusted quite nicely and really enjoys going to this daycare every day. The caregiver is very attentive to our needs and communicative. She quickly learned our son’s habits and preferences. She provides nutritious breakfast, lunch and snacks so I know he is well-fed!

My kid is about to be 6 months so I can’t say too much to the curriculum or teachers part. However, he is happy when I drop him off and when I pick him up. He’s progressing great and she is very good about letting me know how his day was, how much he ate, and any concerns she might have. If you want a place that your kid will feel at home, this is it. I would definitely recommend to anyone with young children.

This provider is excellent. My daughter loves to go to there every day. I can see her progress in academics just a couple of weeks that she attended there. This provider takes time to teach her, now she knows all alphabet and counting. Thank you so much.

We brought our 3-year old to this provider a month ago and we already see growth and development in her learning. This provider's approach is a classical style combined with empathy and care. We were not looking for daycare but a place where our daughter felt at home and comfortable in an environment to grow; this facility is it!

I was hesitant to leave my son in anyone's care in the beginning, as he was my baby and my only to ever go to daycare. This provider made us feel secure in that she would be taking great care of him. This provider and her daycare was such a big blessing for us. Something happened at his last daycare that left him feeling very frightened and scared, where he would throw up at drop off. The previous childcare provider said she couldn't not care for him. This provider started off caring for my neice. My sister recommended her to me. I needed someone to really CARE for my child and not just run a business. This provider has that homey learning environment that was needed. My child still often speaks of her. He needed the interaction and care he received there.

We placed our daughter with this provider when she was 7 months old. Initially 3 days a week, then full time when she turned 1 year old.
