Dear parents, welcome to Hickory Hills Children's House, my licensed daycare and preschool in Oakton, VA! I’m the owner and main caregiver of this warm and nurturing in-home child care program. Located in the peaceful Hickory Hills neighborhood of Oakton, our facility is near Hickory Hills Dr, right off Vale Rd (route 672). Our location makes commuting easy, as we’re just minutes away from West Ox Rd, Fox Mill Rd, Fairfax County Pkwy (route 286), and Lee Jackson Memorial Highway (route 50).

As a mom of two with 15 years of experience, I know the importance of finding a reliable and loving child care provider for your little one. Before opening my own child care facility, I worked as an assistant for other daycares for eight years and also worked as a teacher for seven years. I hold a bachelor’s degree in accountancy, but most importantly, I have a passion for children and early childhood education. I genuinely love my job because it allows me to be active and engaged with the children every day. From play time and story time to cooking together, each day is filled with special moments. Meals and snacks are included in the tuition for all children enrolled, and I ensure that all meals served are fresh and home-cooked. I treat every child in my care as if they were my own, emphasizing healthy eating habits and avoiding pre-cooked meals or fast food (which parents appreciate!)

We are open from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday and we provide care for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Our programs include full-time care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, as well as before and after school care (we’re near Waples Mill Elementary School). Our daycare is designed to accommodate the needs of busy families while ensuring your children receive the best care possible. Working with children brings me joy, and I am dedicated to providing a safe, fun, and educational environment for your kids.

Our daycare follows a play-based teaching philosophy, ensuring that learning is both fun and effective. We believe in a holistic approach to early childhood education, incorporating a variety of extracurricular activities: • Study Skills: We focus on foundational skills like numbers, letters, shapes, and manners through engaging and interactive lessons. • Sports: We offer activities like soccer and basketball to promote physical development and teamwork. • Cooking & Baking: Children love to participate in cooking and baking activities, especially during special celebrations like birthdays. A typical day at Hickory Hills Children's House starts with a morning walk, where we explore and enjoy the fresh air. We have a playground in our backyard for more playtime and ball activities in the afternoon. We also involve the children in food preparation, teaching them valuable skills and fostering a sense of independence.

Our child care facility is equipped with everything needed to ensure a safe and stimulating environment: • Fenced Facilities: Our outdoor play area is securely fenced to keep children safe while they play. • Playground: A dedicated playground area allows for plenty of outdoor fun and physical activity. • Multipurpose Room: This space is used for various indoor activities, from arts and crafts to story time. • Video Cameras: We prioritize safety with video cameras to give parents peace of mind. • Separate Nap Room: We have a cozy nap room where children can rest comfortably during the day.
