Hi parents! Thanks for your interest in Olney Oaks Educational Playhouse, our Montessori-inspired home daycare and preschool in Olney, MD. We’re located in the Olney Oaks neighborhood, off Bowie Mill Rd and Olney Laytonsville Rd (a few minutes from Georgia Ave, route 97).

I’m the owner and lead teacher and I have almost 2 decades of child care and early childhood education experience. Before opening my own daycare, I worked as a Montessori teacher for another licensed facility (I am trained by the Association Montessori Internationale). I’m CPR & First-aid certified, as well as MAT trained so if needed, I can administer medication to all kids attending my program. My staff and I always strive to create a nurturing, comfortable, and safe environment where every child can develop their fullest potential.

We run a Montessori-inspired child care and preschool program. Our curriculum encourages children to explore, teaches them to be responsible, and helps them develop their socio-emotional, cognitive, physical, and intellectual skills. We also promote natural love for learning and prepare them for kindergarten. In fact, kids in our program tend to be more efficient learners compared to their peers in other classes. When children graduate from our program, they leave well-prepared, often with the ability to read, write, and recognize sight words. We teach them different subjects such as Math, Science, Music & Arts, Practical Life, Sensorial, and Language. In addition to English, we can teach your little one the Sinhalese language (however, please note that our daycare is not a bilingual program). Children will surely enjoy their time while learning since we have lots of fun, educational activities and age-appropriate toys for them. To support this enriching curriculum, we have invested in creating a nurturing learning environment. Our space features an open layout with brightly colored foam mats and educational posters that make learning engaging. There's a wide variety of toys catering to both infants and toddlers, all neatly organized in bins and on shelves. Our well-furnished space is stocked with ample supplies, crafts, books, and activity sets, ensuring that children have a wide range of resources to explore and learn from.

Olney Oaks Educational Playhouse is open year-round from Monday through Friday between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm. We offer full-time care for infants, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old. We also can also accommodate drop-in care for your occasional child care needs. Peanut and tree-nut free meals are served to all enrolled children (lunch and snacks are both included in the tuition).
