Clagett Farm Children’s House is a flexible family child care provider that offers a variety of part time and drop-in care options. It is a spacious home-based program run by the caregiver, a mom of 2 herself, who uses a play-based teaching philosophy focused on arts and language. Facilities are clean with lots of natural light and lots of age appropriate furniture. The program is taught in a small class setting with very good teacher to child ratios (very few children per teacher). Facilities include a nice lush backyard and a playground with age appropriate outdoor toys.
Conveniently located near a bus stop and a few miles from I-270, the program accepts children as young as 4 weeks through 5 years old and offers a variety of full-time and part-time daycare options, including drop-in care. In addition to regular hours, they also offer evening care until 11pm to accommodate the needs of working families (note that the weekly tuition is for regular hours, 7am to 6pm; please inquire about evening care rates). The daycare is located near Wayside Elementary and also offers before and after school care for children up to 12 years old.
The daycare has been in operation for over 10 years, operating out of a smoke-free home. Open year-round, the program has an open-door policy and encourages parents to stop by at any time. The caregiver provides home-cooked meals that are peanut and tree-nut free. She can accommodate special dietary needs and allergies or, if desired by the parents, can serve food brought from home. She encourages nursing mothers to bring breast milk for their baby.
Clagett Farm Children’s House has a standard vacation and sick policy. If a child is sick with 101 fever or loose bowels, he/she must be picked up within an hour and be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to daycare. The program does not offer reduced tuition due to illness or vacation. Clagett Farm Children’s House does participate in a subsidized child care program, but parents have to cover any remaining amount of tuition.
