Established in 2009, Safe Haven Learning Center offers parents with children ages 3 to 5 years old a distinct choice among early childhood preschools in the Raleigh/Cary area. SHLC is a 5-Star rated learning center devoted to instilling in every child, a love for learning, a positive self-concept, and a genuine sense of satisfaction in achieving individual and group success. It is our goal to nurture, educate, and challenge your child to learn and grow in a safe, supportive environment. While many of our students have attended day cares, SHLC is often their first experience in a more structured play and academic preschool environment. We are mindful that this transition can be intimidating to young children. That is why our staff takes great care in creating and maintaining a secure, loving, reassuring atmosphere for each child that feels like home. SHLC's small student body affords your child and our staff the opportunity to really get to know one another through daily one-on-one interaction, mentoring and supervision. At Safe Haven Learning Center, your child will find a second home where friendships are made quickly, diversity is joyfully embraced, and every day of learning and play is creatively structured to develop their cognitive, manipulative, sensory and creative skills, while captivating their imagination. Betty Jean "BJ" Thompson is the Director, and a lead teacher at Safe Haven Leaning Center, a position that she has held since the preschool's founding in 2008. She earned her undergraduate degree from Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina in 2001. Following several years in corporate administration, BJ joined Kinder Care as a leader teacher while working on her Masters degree. She earned her graduate degree in Administration and Supervision from The University of Phoenix in 2007.
