Early Childhood Center, Rockville

Experience the nurturing and learning community that Early Childhood Center (ECC) has offered its children and families for almost 50 years. ECC provides a play-based learning program for children 2 -5 years old. The school offers small class sizes, low student to teacher ratios, and highly qualified teachers. Located on a beautiful campus in downtown Rockville, we are easily accessible from many areas of Montgomery County, including King Farm, Derwood, Gaithersburg, North Potomac, Kentlands, Germantown, Bethesda, Silver Spring and Olney. Families voted ECC “Best for Families” preschool in the annual Washington Family Magazine survey. While attending ECC, children develop positive self-esteem, social competency, and essential skills in literacy and math. ECC fosters learning through exploration and encourages independence. Our child-centered program promotes hands-on active learning. Using Creative Curriculum®, we encourage children to reach their full potential in eight areas: social and emotional development, problem solving skills, literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts and technology. As children play, they learn about the world and themselves. They develop new social and emotional skills, enrich their imaginations, test new ideas, grow in mastery of their bodies, and explore essential literacy and math concepts. ECC staff members serve as positive role models and learning facilitators. Teachers and assistants work together to create a caring and nurturing community. Teachers have college degrees that include early childhood education courses. Our classes start at 9:00 am and end at either 12:20 pm or 3:00 pm. Families can drop off their child starting at 8:15 am by enrolling in Early Birds. We offer additional enrichment with a music and movement and yoga component that is conducted by specialists who comes into each classroom. From mid-June to July, there is an optional six-week camp that meets two, three, or five days per week.
