Welcome to Dumont Oaks Kids Playhouse! We are a licensed home daycare in Silver Spring, MD, located in the charming Dumont Oaks community. Our warm and nurturing child care program is in the White Oak area, near Columbia Pike (Route 29), and New Hampshire Avenue (Route 650). We are also just a few minutes from Burnt Mills Elementary School, making our location convenient for many families looking for daycare, preschool, or child care in Silver Spring and Montgomery County.

Program:

Dumont Oaks Kids Playhouse is open year-round, Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. We offer both full-time and part-time child care for infants as young as 6 weeks old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 4 years old. Daily snacks are provided at no extra cost, so children can stay nourished and comfortable throughout the day.

About Me:

Hello parents! 👋 I am the proud owner and main caregiver of Dumont Oaks Kids Playhouse. Caring for children has always been a meaningful part of my life. In addition to raising my own children, I have helped care for my siblings and gained valuable experience working as a substitute caregiver in another local child care program. Those experiences strengthened my love for early childhood care and helped inspire me to open my own home daycare.

I truly enjoy being part of a child’s growth and development, especially as they reach new milestones, build confidence, and learn important skills in a positive and loving environment. I am CPR and First Aid certified, and I speak both English and Amharic. Upon request, I would be happy to introduce children to basic Amharic words and language activities.

Starting my own child care program has always been a dream, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support families in my community. I understand how important trust is when choosing a daycare or preschool, and I am committed to providing patient, attentive care in a safe and welcoming environment.

At Dumont Oaks Kids Playhouse, we are dedicated to creating a clean, safe, and caring environment where children feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged to grow. We welcome families from all backgrounds and believe every child should feel respected, valued, and included.

We value kindness, patience, and respect in everything we do. With hands-on child care experience and open communication with parents, we work to support each child’s individual needs, daily development, and emotional well-being. Our goal is to give parents peace of mind knowing their children are in dependable hands and cared for with warmth, attention, and understanding.

Daily Activities:

Our daily activities follow a play-based curriculum designed to support learning, creativity, social skills, and overall development. Each day includes circle time and story time to help build early language and listening skills, along with arts and crafts, music and movement, sensory exploration, and hands-on learning.

We introduce early learning concepts such as colors, shapes, numbers, letters, early math, science, and simple problem-solving through playful activities that make learning fun and meaningful. When the weather is nice, children enjoy outdoor play in our fenced backyard, along with group activities, dramatic play, and building activities that encourage coordination, teamwork, and imagination.

Quiet time and rest periods are also included to give children a healthy balance of activity and relaxation. Throughout the day, we encourage positive values such as independence, kindness, sharing, and respectful communication in a caring and structured environment.
