About

CURRENT OPENINGS: All ages!
Oakdale Woods Children's House is a home-based daycare and preschool in Vienna, VA. The child care facility is right off Edgelea Rd, between Courthouse Rd and Blake Ln (near Oakton High School and Oakton Shopping Center). The daycare is very accessible for commuters since they're close to the I-66 and Chain Bridge Rd (route 123), and a few minutes from the Vienna Metro station.
Curriculum
This family child care and preschool program offers children the unique experience of self-development in a tender atmosphere of understanding, respect, and support. It is a place of nurturing and love where the child connects with adults who fosters an ongoing relationship that supports his quest for independence. The classroom environment is focused on supporting the child as he acquires the skills to “do it myself.” Children have the freedom to move, explore and manipulate the objects in the environment, and they are given the time they need to accomplish their work. Activities change and evolve as the child grows. The classroom allows children to develop and refine movements, increase language, and launch into social relationships with peers. Under the loving guidance of the teachers, children learn to respect themselves, others and the environment while growing physically, emotionally, and intellectually.
Program & Staff
The lead teacher and owner has been involved with the Montessori community for more than 20 years. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and is a CPR & First-aid certified. As a mom herself, she understands parents' needs and concerns when it comes to finding nurturing care and quality early childhood education. While this in-home child care facility isn't large enough for a true Montessori school, the owner has a deep understanding of the Montessori philosophy and teaching methods, which inspire her curriculum and program. She holds a Baccalaureate in commerce as well as a Montessori certification from the American Montessori Society.   Oakdale Woods Children's House is open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Mondays to  Fridays. They offer full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 4 weeks, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old. Children above 2 years old are provided with peanut and tree-nut free lunch and snacks (both are included in the tuition). Before and after school care are both available for school-age kids, up to 12 years old. Please contact the daycare and schedule a tour through CareLuLu to take advantage of their free registration!

This provider and her family are wonderful! Our son very much enjoys spending time there and has made so many great friends. The curriculum is educational and fun. The teachers are engaging and always put the safety and well being of the children first. We are so thankful and blessed to know our son is under this provider's care. We highly recommend this provider!!!

It's been years since my original review, and I wanted to add an update. Yes, this daycare is still there, and it is still awesome! In the meantime, we've had one child graduate and move on to Kindergarten. What a graduation party it was! And the Kindergarten teachers (and all standardized tests that come with Kindergarten) agreed that this child was extremely well prepared for Kindergarten in every way. In the meantime, our second daughter has... more

My two sons went to this daycare for five years total. The owner cared for them as if they were her own children. They learned a lot and were well-prepared for school once they left her care. I had peace of mind that they were safe, well-fed (home cooked meals) and engaged throughout the day.

Both of my children started attending this daycare at 3 months old, and my youngest still attends. We have seen our children learn so much through this program, i.e., math, writing, etc. but also values and socialization. The teachers and aides care so much for each child and help to nurture them. A friendly home-based environment for your child to learn and grow!

Both my children began attending when they were 7 weeks old. My son, now 2, still attends and we've been very happy with the high level of care and instruction. The owner, her teachers and her family provide a warm, loving home environment. The children are safe and well looked after and are also able to thrive in a Montessori environment. Many of the children live in the neighborhood so there is a strong sense of community and the children love... more
