Roots Activity Learning Center, DC

Roots is an independent educational institution serving the specific needs of children of African heritage. Roots has an Infant/Toddler Center (6-36 months old), Primary Center (grades 1-4) and Middle School Center (grades 5-8). The teachers and staff of Roots believe that children of African heritage have unlimited potential, that can flourish and bring about a brighter world if nourished properly. We believe in teaching from an African-centered perspective, which includes, hands on and holistic activities. The curriculum consists of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, music, art and physical education in a caring environment. The goal is to enable students to become successful, lifelong learners and valuable, contributing, positive agents of change of the global community.
