Children's Manor Montessori School

OUR TEACHERS We only hire the best teachers for our classrooms. Most... of whom have been with us for five to ten years. Our teachers and Instructional Leaders love working with children and our able to observe each child’s needs to best serve them. The role of our teachers is to guide the students allowing each child to develop concentration, motivation, persistence, and discipline through their work. Within this framework of order, the child progresses at their own pace and rhythm, while discovering the joys of learning, and developing social and intellectual discipline. OUR CLASSROOM The Montessori classroom is nothing like a traditional classroom. In the Montessori classroom children our encouraged to explore, feel, and touch their surroundings. All activities are presented at eye level to the child on bookcases and other displays. The Montessori environment is designed to meet the physical, cognitive and social needs intrinsic to each child, and to nurture the child to learn and thrive. In the Montessori classroom, children are free to respond to their natural drive to work and learn. The child’s inherent joy of learning is encouraged by giving him/her the opportunities to engage in meaningful activities, under the guidance of the Montessori teacher. OUR PROGRAMS Unlike many other schools or day care facilities, we offer a diverse range of programs, enrichment and outreach for our students. Our Infant/Toddler program focuses on developing cognitive skills, motor skills, sensory skills, language skills, practical life skills, and social skills. The Primary, Pre-K , and Kindergarten Program builds on our Infant/Toddler Program and incorporate the five areas of the Montessori Method (Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies). At the Elementary Level, our programs continue to build and include Language, Mathematics, Science and Cultural Studies. Specialty programs are integrated into the general daily schedule, at least once a week and include Technology, Spanish, Music, Phys Ed, Yoga, Library, Art and Service Learning.

Teaching, Learning, Caring In Home Child Care

Teaching, Learning, Caring In Home Child Care uses MSDE approved The... Creative Curriculum for Family Childcare from Teaching Strategies, Inc. along with Innovations The Comprehensive Infant Curriculum and Innovations The Comprehensive Toddler Curriculum. Also a Learning Through Play Curriculum with lesson plans for ages 2 -5 years old in the following areas: Math, Dramatic Play, Cooking, Language, Sand, Water, Clay & Wood, Music & Movement, Art, Science, Problem Solving and Blocks. While all of these are integrated into the on going learning process, a strong influence from Magda Gerber and RIE is a core foundation based on respecting each child. "Respect is the basis of the RIE philosophy. Respecting a child means treating even the youngest infant as a unique human being, not as an object. This facility is set back inside a quiet cul-de-sac, in a single family home. The back yard is fenced and has assorted outdoor play equipment designed for infants and older children. Picnic areas are available for more outdoor time when the weather is appropriate. Within the home there is a center type of set up with an Infant Safety Play Zone. The best of both worlds, being in a family home, not institutional, offering numerous options for the safety of your child and learning experiences to take place. Love of Learning Montessori School

About Us Love of Learning Montessori School is a warm, loving... community of parents, teachers, and students working in partnership, sharing strong common values, and preparing students for life. We enroll approximately 200 children, including families from around the world. We are an international community, both in the composition of our students and staff, and in the cross-cultural emphasis of our curriculum. Our Academics Love of Learning offers the most robust Montessori curriculum in the area. Our students are consistently 2-4 years ahead in math, reading and science than the national norm. Graduates from our school continuously transition into some of Maryland’s top competitive private schools such as Glenelg Country School, McDonogh School, The Park School, Sandy Spring Friends School, and Stoneridge School of the Sacred Heart, to name a few. Lastly, our Upper Elementary students (4th through 6th grade) travel every year to New York City and participate in the Model United Nations program. Thus far, they have successfully represented Cuba, France, Argentina and Belarus. Our Classrooms Our classrooms are designed to facilitate and stimulate collaborative learning. They are intriguing learning environments, alive with wonderful and challenging educational resources, plants, art, and the students’ own creations. The atmosphere is peaceful, which leads most children to become totally absorbed in their studies. We build an environment for the “unhurried mind” to move steadily toward the pursuit of excellence. Our Teachers Every one of our classrooms is led by a trained Montessori teacher and our classrooms have a full complement of Montessori materials. Parents choose our school because our teachers are committed to the individual growth of every student. Our teachers work closely with each family to ensure a positive, caring and successful school experience for everyone. Our Students Each student is treated with kindness and respect. Students look up to their teachers as mentors, guides, and friends. We set high expectations, stressing the importance of careful work and pride in accomplishment at all levels. In each class, older students encourage and help those who are younger. Because children tend to learn effectively from one another, often the best teacher is someone just a little bit older than themselves. Our students grow up with the sense that they belong to an extended family of parents, teachers, and fellow students.
