Ms. Ashley's Family Child Care
My Mission I maintain a level of professionalism and take my job very seriously. I commit myself to providing quality child care with the use of programs that enhance early childhood education and development. Children are exposed to developmentally appropriate activities, learn in a creative, playful, and fun environment; and are encouraged to discover and express their own uniqueness, interests, and talents; which will help to build their self-esteem, confidence, a love of learning, and lasting friendships. Our Program Children learn best through play and experiences. I believe that children learn by doing, getting messy, investigating their questions, and problem solving with their friends. They learn by playing games, using their imaginations, expressing their emotions, creating, and exploring the world around them. I set up intentional play activities and explorations that meet the needs of individual students. I question and extend their thinking and play to help them learn and grow. I provide high quality education and care for every student who comes in my classroom. I intentionally plan and organize the classroom so students have the opportunity to develop in the areas of social emotional, language and literacy, math, science, creative arts, fine motor, and gross motor. It is my goal for students to develop the dispositions and skills to become lifelong learners and be successful in kindergarten and life (both socially and academically). Curriculum We use the professionally developed Mother Goose Time curriculum for our learning. This curriculum aligns with the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards and supports our philosophy of learning through play.

It is a comprehensive curriculum with a clear organizational structure and a particular focus on routines and experiences. The Creative Curriculum is a comprehensive system that includes curriculum, assessment, implementation and evaluation, and professional development. It motivates teachers, create high-quality learning environments, and promote successful curriculum implementation that supports positive outcomes for children. The Creative Curriculum is the country’s leading scientifically based, research-validated, comprehensive curriculum with guidance on teaching literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies. This inclusive, strength based approach is appropriate for all children, including dual-language learners and children with disabilities. We use some of the ABEKA Preschool Curriculum for our 2-5 year olds. This material offers a very colorful way to teach your toddlers things like basic language arts and numbers. There is also a basic reading program called ‘Six Easy Steps to Reading’ for the four year olds. It gives us the opportunity to fully prepare your child for kindergarten beginning as young as two years old.
