Doodlebug Learning Center
I have worked with children for over 25 years in a variety of capacities. I have my Master's Degree in Social Work and prior to opening my in-home daycare I worked with children in foster care and adoption. Five years ago I had my own child and decided to change career paths. I love children and have been excited about working with children in this capacity. In addition to our play based daily routine, we also take many field trips to places like the National Zoo, water parks, playgrounds, libraries, and museums... plus many more! The children are active and engaged on a constant basis. We also use the mothergoosetime.com curriculum to enhance the learning environment. I am also beginning to use a curriculum to help the older children learn to read. We have fun and the children are loved as if they were my own.

Sparkles! Early Learning Academy
Established in 2011, the newest of our centers, our Crystal City Child Care facility is conveniently located near the Metro and Pentagon, servicing corporate and military families in the busy Arlington community. This Crystal City child care center was built with numerous glass walls and windows, for an open, spacious feeling. Our classrooms offer enticing toys, arts and crafts, plenty of books and engaging educational activities for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. Our Crystal City child care center offers extended hours, an internet camera viewing system in the classrooms, and convenient flexible schedules to meet parents' daycare needs. At Sparkles, our goal is to utilize proven, research-based curriculum resources designed to produce creative, confident thinkers. Using the nationally recognized Creative Curriculum system, we incorporate the latest research and best practices to address the learning needs of infants, toddlers and preschool children by using age-specific objectives for learning and development. These objectives have been identified as strong predictors of school and life success, building traits associated with leadership. All of our centers participate in our S.T.A.R. Curriculum (Successful Teaching for Academic Readiness) for all of the age groups; a thematic based, developmentally appropriate curriculum. We are currently pursuing accreditation from NAEYC, The National Association for the Education of Young Children – a national, voluntary accreditation system to set professional standards for early childhood education programs. When you walk into our Crystal City child care location, you will be welcomed by well-trained and caring child care professionals who make learning exciting and fun.

St. Luke's Day School

St. Luke's Day School offers an environment that encourages curiosity and an awareness of the excitement of learning. St. Luke's Day School believes... in the beauty, creativity and intelligence of a child's play. When singing, playing and adventuring, our students learn to have fun while participating in group activities and dynamics. The program is designed to help children develop habits of observation, questioning and listening. Children are encouraged to become aware of their feelings and to express them in an appropriate manner. Our program, with various learning activities and playtime, prepares the children to recognize and use their intellectual and creative abilities in future learning tasks. We base our curriculum on an initiative developed by the Virginia Department of Education called Virginia's Foundation Blocks for Early Learning. Look often into our busy, noisy, creative classrooms and see your child at work and play. Play is an important part of learning and creates the appropriate skill level for optimum learning to be achieved. Above all, we give them time to grow; time and room to explore; to experiment; and to discover. We offer them time to play… time to be a child. The children are introduced to a balanced program of interaction with friends in both teacher directed and child-directed experiences. The daily schedule includes free choice of time spent in the play area, circle activities for the group, Music class, Creative Movement class and a weekly chapel service. We are committed to working closely with parents toward the welfare of the whole family. Parents are welcome to visit during the child's time at school after checking in with the front office.
