Faith Baptist Academy
CHURCH PURPOSE The church exists to bring God glory and to serve Christ, the head of the church. God is glorified by the transforming power of the gospel working among each local church to train and transform believers into greater and greater reflections of Christ's glory. To this end, we strive to teach and train our congregation to know and obey the Scripture. Our church focuses its energies on teaching ministries first, fellowship second, service third, and evangelism always. We understand how important your child is to you and to the Kingdom of God. Rest assured that we will work to keep your child safe and comfortable at our church while investing our time into teaching them the truth of God's Word. We offer enriching programs for your child of any age. Nursery: Infant - 2 years old We have nursery available for all of our Sunday and Wednesday services. Infants are welcome with parents at our Care Group meetings as well. Children: 3 years - 5th grade For our children in these formative years, we teach them during Sunday School classes (9:45am Sundays), Praise Factory (during the sermon portion of the Sunday worhsip service), and Pioneer Club during the Wednesday Faith Community Institute program (6:45pm). All of these offer social growth opportunities, but focus on instilling biblical knowledge and understanding of who God is and what he does. Youth: 6th grade - 12th grade Our growing youth group is an exciting place for young adults to learn what the Bible means and how it applies to the challenges of their lives. Questions are welcome, and answers come from the Bible during group discusisons. The youth serve in ministry and have the opportunity to participate in several outings and camps every year. The youth meet for Sunday School (9:45am Sundays) and Wednesday "Youth Group" (6:45pm during the school year; 7:00 during the summer). Falls Church Episcopal Church
Youth and children experience a vibrant worship, formation and fellowship life at The Falls Church Episcopal Nursery The Nursery at The Falls Church is for infants and children up to age 3. It is staffed by Karin and Josephine, two long-time team members at our church. The Nursery is open every Sunday from 8:45 am to 12:15 pm. The Nursery is located downstairs in Room 126. From the Upper Narthex, go down the stairs or the elevator and the Nursery will be just a few steps down the hall. Cherub & Children's Chapel During worship, "cherubs" (age 4 years or younger) and children (age 5 years or more) are invited to chapel after the first reading of Scripture during all services. Lasting 30 minutes, chapel follows the lectionary and parallels the main service in an age appropriate manner. Cherubs and children return to their parents in time for the passing of the peace and communion. On the first two Sundays of the month, cherubs and children have separate, age-appropriate chapels. On the remaining Sundays of the month, the cherubs “build” an altar and sanctuary space with small-scale pieces. When ready, they ring the “church bell” and invite the children into their space for a short liturgy! Many pre-teens and teens also join in, acting as “big brothers and sisters.” The 6th-12th graders may also serve as acolyte crucifer-servers for the main worship service. Every month or so, the cherub and children sing a song for the Offertory! The Kindergarten Program is offered to all children who turn five before September 30. The curriculum in this class is age appropriate and prepares children for first grade in public and private schools. This program satisfies, at a minimum, all the Standards of Learning for Kindergarten in the State of Virginia. The Kindergarten curriculum is child-centered and project oriented. It allows for each child to develop uniquely into a “Can-Do” learner in a secure and nurturing atmosphere. Spanish class is offered twice a week. This class meets from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The preschool classes are available for children ages two years through four years. All four year old classes prepare children for a positive Kindergarten experience. Classes begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m., with the exception of the 5 Day 4 Year-old Extended Day class which meets from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Children in this class participate in a Spanish class twice a week. Children must turn the appropriate age for the desired class no later than September 30. Students in the three-year-old classes and older must be toilet trained. Children in this program routinely turn five years old after September 30 and before December 31 of the same calendar year. Students whose birthdays fall outside the stated parameters may apply to this program at the discretion of the director. Participation in all classroom projects and activities are guided by individual skills and abilities and the curriculum is appropriately challenging. Children will participate in an extended-day that will include a Spanish class twice a week. Classes meet from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Our PMO program offers a nurturing environment for toddlers encountering their first peer group experiences. This program is available for children ages eighteen months through twenty-three months of age and meets from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday of each week.

Church of The Holy Comforter

Holy Comforter Episcopal Preschool (HCEP) provides a lively,... creative, loving and safe environment that gives each child the opportunity to develop a sense of self-worth, self-understanding and self-expression. Our integrated curriculum encourages the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual development of children. Teachers provide a balance of activities and develop individual goals for the children so that each child receives the attention, challenges and successes he/she needs. Play is the heart of our preschool curriculum. A day at HCEP includes self-directed play in teacher prepared learning centers. These centers offer manipulative toys, blocks, dramatic play, art, science, sand/water table and reading centers. A half hour of active play is scheduled daily, either outdoors in the fenced playground or in the rainy day room. Circle time, cooking, music, stories, science, speech and language, in-school field trips and creative activities are also included. The school recognizes the importance and effect that the early years of a child's life has on his/her total development and endeavors to motivate children with enthusiasm and confidence. Children and the Holy Eucharist All baptized Christians are welcomed at the Lord’s table, and the Episcopal Church does not designate a specific age in which children are to receive communion. Holy Comforter does offer a special “Study of the Holy Eucharist” in First Grade Sunday School, but children do not need to complete the class in order to partake of the Sacrament. Parents are encouraged to meet with a member of the clergy if they have questions or concerns about young children and communion. Any member of the congregation, adults as well as children, may receive a blessing instead of communion by simply crossing their arms across their chest to indicate their preference. The 9:00 and 11:00 services on Sunday morning are where children and youth have opportunities to serve as assistant ushers and lay readers. The music is usually simpler than the 7:45 service, and at least one of the readings is from The Good News version of the Holy Bible. One of the priests leads Children’s Chapel during a portion of the service (in St. Mary’s Chapel), and when the children return to the Sanctuary, they kneel at the altar during the Great Thanksgiving.
