Spring Bilingual Montessori Academy

Spring Bilingual Montessori Academy (SBMA) seeks to create a learning... environment in which the student is encouraged to explore his own innate sense of curiosity and eagerness to gain knowledge. Our program is carefully designed to meet the individual needs of each child. The difference between the SBMA environment and that of other Montessori institutions lies in the parallel instruction of foreign language to all facets of the learning process. It has been shown in countless educational research studies that the child is most sensitive and receptive to a second language during the period from birth to age six. During these crucial developmental years the child tends to learn most effectively not through conventional teaching means, but by absorbing information through activity within the environment to which he is exposed. This is a natural process, embraced by the child with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm. The goal of the teacher in this process is to prepare a structured environment in which the child has access to information and activities which promote positive learning. At SBMA, learning the language of another culture is as natural as are the stimuli used to write, to count, to associate names with places and animals, and to develop sensory awareness and practical life skills. The advantages of this added understanding go beyond the simple acquisition of a second vocabulary. SBMA believes that to know something of the spoken and written language of another group of people is akin to being acquainted with them. Language enables us to penetrate into another culture’s philosophy, folklore, literature and music. Through this understanding, we can begin to bridge the unnatural barriers separating the world today. We wish to give our children the inspiration to create a better world tomorrow

Horizon Hill Bilingual French Daycare

About Us Hi parents, welcome to Horizon Hill Bilingual French... Daycare, my home daycare in Potomac, MD! I’m the owner and main caregiver, and I am a mother of 4 children with 12 years of experience. I hold an Associates’ degree Business Administration and have my first-aid and CPR certifications. I run our family child care program with my assistant who is also a mother of 4 children! I started my career in education as a French teacher for school-aged children in Montgomery County. I then decided to focus on early education, and worked at several child care centers and preschools. Taking care and teaching young children has always made me happy. I love spending time with children, playing with them, and helping them learn. That's when I decided to open my own home daycare! My goal is to help young children build the skills they need to learn and grow through patience, nurturing and dedication. Our Program From infancy to preschool to kindergarten, at Horizon Hill Bilingual French Daycare, your child will engage in fun and exciting early learning activities, specifically designed to meet her or his developmental needs. We offer a Bilingual French daycare, and our approach exposes your child at an early age to a second language. This has been proven to help children become more flexible problem solvers in a multicultural world. We focus not only on social and emotional skills, but also movement and motor skills We offer full-time and part-time daycare, for infants as young as 3 weeks old, and also provide care for toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old. I can provide drop-in child care as needed, and we do offer before and after school care for older children, up to 12 years old. We’re open from 6:30am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. Transportation can be arranged and we provide lunch and snacks to the children in our care (we’re a peanut-free and tree-nut free daycare.) Horizon Hill Bilingual French Daycare is conveniently located near the I-270, across from Horizon Hill Park in Potomac (we’re between Potomac and Rockville, near the Fallsmead Elementary School and Robert Frost Middle School.)
