Mrs. Carmen Family Daycare
About Us Welcome to Mrs. Carmen Family Daycare, our nurturing family child care and preschool program in Los Angeles, CA! I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have 30 years of experience in early childhood education. I run my daycare with my 3 assistants and they have 13 years of combined experience. All staff members are CPR and First-aid certified, so you can be sure that your little one is safe and secure at all times! I’m also a mom of 2 myself, so I can relate to your needs and concerns when it comes to finding the best daycare for your child. In our home, we treat every child as if they were our own! Curriculum We believe that children learn through play, so we follow the Play-based learning principles. This approach has been proven to be an effective way to develop a child’s valuable skills such as socio-emotional and cognitive skills. We also have educational, yet fun extra-curricular activities in store for them like Arts & Crafts, Singing/Guitar/Music, Story Time and Exercise. In addition to English, we can also teach your child the Spanish Language (this is a wonderful opportunity for your child to become bilingual). Program Our home-based daycare and preschool is open year round between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We provide full-time care for infants as young as 4 weeks, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 4 years old. We serve organic food to all children in our care (breakfast, lunch and snacks are all included in the tuition!) and due to possible allergies, we run a peanut and tree-nut free environment. Location Mrs. Carmen Family Daycare is in the Westchester / Fox Hills area of Los Angeles, CA. We’re near Jefferson Blvd and Sepulveda Blvd, near Cowan Elementary School. You commute to work will be fast and convenient since we have easy access to these major roads: Marina Fyw (route 90), Lincoln Blvd (route 1) and the I-405. We would love to meet you and your little one(s), please send us an email or book a tour!
Wild Poppy Studio
Wild Poppy Studio is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach that traces back to Reggio, Italy. There are five pillars that truly define this approach: *Respect for children *Family and community involvement *Emergent curriculum *Teachers as co-constructivists *Environment as a third teacher The staff at Wild Poppy Studio sincerely believes that children are capable and intelligent human beings. And out of respect for all human beings, we stress the importance of listening. If you listen to children carefully, you will find they are full of complex ideas and carefully processed hypotheses. They also have a natural desire to work with their peers, are more just and fair than we may give them credit for and are certainly more empathetic than some may believe them to be. Children are capable of true analytical and scientific thought. When given the respect and space to express this, the learning opportunities are endless! To love learning, you must love school. Wild Poppy Studio is a school that cherishes its environment and respects its tools. We understand that children need to dig. They need to run. And they need to climb. Outside our studio, we've created a safe and grassy environment for our children to run barefoot. We've installed a play structure where they can exert energy in a fun and productive way. We've grown and will nurture a garden full of mud and edible organic herbs, vegetables and fruits with your children. We have also transformed our classroom and part of our outdoor space into an art studio fit for the most creative of minds. We believe that children deserve the highest-quality materials and tools to express their ideas, ones that we ourselves would use. Our studio rooms feature light exploration, the highest-quality clays, tempera, acrylic, watercolor paints, stippling, fan, and filbert brushes, beautiful glass beads, pastels and more. We also serve exclusively vegan and organic snacks, using all-natural ingredients including avocado, blue corn tortilla chips, vegetarian chili and figs. A palette of foods is just as important as a palette of paints! At Wild Poppy Studio, your children's overall well-being and learning come first. Wild Poppy Studio admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the school. Wild Poppy Studio does not discriminate against any employee, applicant for employment, independent contractor, or any other person because of race, color ancestry, national origin, age, or gender.

My Friend's Montessori Preschool Cooperative

Our mission is to provide a model Montessori home and garden environment in which children receive an enriched preschool education in phonetic... pre-reading skills, music, art, creative fun, nature, and self-care skills. In addition, parents will learn ideas they can implement at home. The field trips expose the children to new experiences and challenges. Our students become motivated self-learners and are provided with a warm nurturing atmosphere in which to develop into the wonderful person they are. The program is based on the Montessori philosophy of individualized tasks that build skills, confidence and self-esteem. We believe this is the best way to achieve our goal of motivated learners. Children are taught to be independent, responsible and respectful of themselves, others and their environment. All materials are hands-on manipulative with a built-in control that allows the child to accomplish the task easily without the teacher correcting them saying this is right and this is wrong. This independent learning style builds his/her feelings of accomplishment. This motivates the child to learn and master more difficult skills and increases his/her ability to concentrate for longer and longer periods of time. Children are drawn to the materials that they developmentally need to work on at that moment in time. In this way they select what is most important to their development for that day. All materials in the classroom are presented on shelves at their height. The children are provided with rugs and child-sized tables to work on. The teacher’s role in the classroom is to provide instruction on how to use the materials, keep the child focused on activities that he or she is successful with and encourage and present more challenging lessons when the child is ready for it. She keeps a careful eye on frustration levels to make sure a child is engaged and moving comfortably at his or her own pace. She encourages appropriate friendship interactions and encourages the children to help each other to build a strong sense of community. Often the children start interacting as a familial group toward the end of the year. Our main goal is to make sure every child feels special and is comfortable and happy. This is a terrific program for 3-5 year olds designed for stay-at-home moms and part-time working moms. This part-time 3-day-a-week program is Montessori-based and includes weekly field trips to nature parks and educational venues. Moms and younger siblings come to field trips for free. My Friend's Mother's Preschool Montessori and Cooperative is a licensed family child care provider in Culver City, CA with the license issued by the L. A. Daycare-No. This is a home-based child care that offers a small setting. To learn more about this child care provider, please send them an email.
