Messiah United Methodist Church
Messiah is.. ...a United Methodist Congregation and part of the Virginia Conference. We want all people to experience God’s grace and love and grow in relationship with Christ and one another! Our mission is to share the contagious joy of following Jesus Christ. Our vision is to be a community of contagious joy. Our motto is Serving God by Serving Others. Whether you are a first time visitor or a long time member, we believe there are ways that everyone can serve and be served at Messiah. We believe God calls each of us to use our gifts. The theologian Frederick Buechner said, ‘There are many voices calling you to many places in the world, the place where God calls you is where your deep passion and the world’s deep hunger meet.” We pray that in the bustle of all the business of the world, we all will hear God’s call and connect to our purpose. We care and serve one another in many ways, especially in our Outreach and Missions and our Congregational Care Ministries. We love children at Messiah! We have a vital Children’s Ministry offering Sunday School for ages 2 and up during both our 9:30 and 11 am hours of worship. We offer an excellent preschool for ages 17 months to 4 years at our Child Enrichment Program (CEP). We offer wonderful events such as Noah’s Ark Camp and Vacation Bible School every summer. We have Children’s choirs and a Children’s Musical each year. We offer professional childcare at any Messiah worship services, events, or meetings. At Messiah, our youth are not only the future, but the present! Our Student Ministry meets each Sunday evening from 5 - 7 pm for United Methodist Youth Fellowship UMYF and offers three active small groups during the week. Each Sunday, over 40 youth gather to worship, do mission, and have fun! We believe community is essential to life! John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, noted “the Bible knows nothing of solitary religion” and “there is no holiness but social holiness.” We gather as we nurture and care for one another, to fellowship in small groups and during our Wednesday night dinners, and plan for mission and discipleship, and most importantly to worship and praise God! Whether you are single, married, single again, with or without children, we want you to know that God loves you and so do we. We hope you will come and be part of this community of contagious joy! Our nursery is located on the lower level in the CEP wing. Members of our Welcoming Team will be at the front entrance to direct you and your family to the Nursery and Children's Sunday School classrooms. Nursery care is available all morning. We have vibrating pagers that we'll give you in case of an emergency. Children experience God’s love for them through a variety of ministry programs offered throughout the year. In a loving, fun environment, children have the opportunity to learn about God, the Bible, and what it means to be part of a Christian community. Read on to learn about special events for children. Springfield United Methodist Church
The Director and teachers have developed a curriculum that incorporates language, mathematics, science and pro-social skills in a developmentally appropriate play setting. Many activities used to develop large and small muscle control, eye-hand coordination, verbal skills and creative play, will be part of the children's day. The program offers many opportunities for social interaction and seeks to strike a proper balance between responsibility and freedom, and comformity and individuality in a setting which is conducive to establishing a positive self-image. Throughout the day, the teachers strive to create a loving Christian atmosphere in which each child is a special individual. Weekly music class, monthly storyteller, either Bible or secular, and children's chapel are provided. Fairfax United Methodist Church Preschool

We are an accredited preschool located in Fairfax City, near the... intersection of Rt. 50 and University Dr. The school began in 1976 and offers morning classes for three, four and five year olds. Most of our lead teachers have degrees in elementary education and many have done graduate level courses in the newer field of early childhood education. Our assistant teachers have related degrees, some in social work and some in elementary education or psychology. There are two teachers in each classroom and generally 14 three year olds, 16 four year olds and 18 children in the pre-kindergarten class. We have a large outdoor area for playground time, and we have an indoor area for playing when the weather is blustery. Registration begins the first week of January for our Church members and returning preschool families and for the community during the third week of January. We enroll on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional information about our program such as our philosophy and goals, registration information, forms and other details can be found on this site. We are an outreach of the United Methodist Church, but we welcome families of any religion or ethnic background, and love to share the traditions, music and foods of all our preschool families. We invite you to call or visit our preschool any time to ask questions, obtain information or to arrange a personal tour of the school. Contact Diana Jenkins, the Director at the preschool Office 703 591-3177. We love to talk about our program! Goals Fairfax United Methodist Church Preschool is committed to providing the best possible environment for nurturing young children. We encourage each individual child by placing equal emphasis on physical, social, emotional, creative, intellectual and spiritual development. Rich and varied active learning opportunities, guided by warm, self-awareness and overall competence. We are dedicated to supporting the child and the family. Our curriculum is based on the belief that, for children, play is a developmental opportunity to explore their world, find out how to get along with others, test their skills and muscles, try out new ideas, and problem-solve. We offer daily opportunities to explore art media, science, writing, dramatic play, building, math, literature and the outdoors. Teachers guide and extend the play to refine emerging social and academic skills. All of the activities presented by the teachers are carefully evaluated for a positive educational outcome that can be incorporated into play while giving children lots of practice of important skills. Our program is a part of the Church's educational and outreach ministries and age-appropriate Christian values guide all curriculum areas. A loving atmosphere of acceptance, trust and structured freedom is our goal to help move children toward love of self, others and God. Our Preschool admits children of any race, religion, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges and activities generally accorded or made available through the program.
