Julia Brown Montessori School
At The Julia Brown Montessori Schools, we work with nature, not against it, in helping your child achieve his or her goal. Our program accepts the endless energies, the creative impulses, and insatiable curiosities of the children and gradually directs their efforts into rewarding channels. Children have a strong natural desire to learn. This desire can best be nurtured by allowing the child to choose his or her own activities and to work at his or her own pace. No one can produce a better lesson schedule than the one produced by the child’s own interests. When they are ready for each step in their development, their enthusiasm for this part of the program is obvious. As an observer of one of our classes you find the children choosing their own work color box and busily pursuing their goals. Our quiet, calm classrooms are due to the students preoccupation with their work. Toddler Class We offer a modified, traditional Montessori program, 5 days/week, for our Toddlers: children ages 18 months through 2 years. The toddler environment is adapted to the physical and motor development needs of these younger students. In keeping with Montessori philosophy of promoting independence, we will assist your child with toilet training. Our basic toddler program is 9 am – 3 pm, but we also offer extended care hours (7 am – 6:30 pm). This program is currently available in our Olney, Silver Spring and Laurel locations. Our Primary program is for children ages 2 1/2 – 5 1/2. We offer morning classes from 8:30 AM – 11:15 AM or an afternoon class from 12:15 PM – 3:00 PM, 5-days a week. The children are introduced sequentially to the following five areas of the prepared environment: practical life, sensorial, language, math, and cultural. Self-esteem, concentration skills, and good work habits are developed as a result of this environment. Julia Brown Montessori School is a center. We care for children as young as 2 years through 5 years old. We offer full time care. To learn more, please call us or send us an email. Please be sure to mention that you found us on CareLuLu.

Love of Learning Montessori School

About Us Love of Learning Montessori School is a warm, loving... community of parents, teachers, and students working in partnership, sharing strong common values, and preparing students for life. We enroll approximately 200 children, including families from around the world. We are an international community, both in the composition of our students and staff, and in the cross-cultural emphasis of our curriculum. Our Academics Love of Learning offers the most robust Montessori curriculum in the area. Our students are consistently 2-4 years ahead in math, reading and science than the national norm. Graduates from our school continuously transition into some of Maryland’s top competitive private schools such as Glenelg Country School, McDonogh School, The Park School, Sandy Spring Friends School, and Stoneridge School of the Sacred Heart, to name a few. Lastly, our Upper Elementary students (4th through 6th grade) travel every year to New York City and participate in the Model United Nations program. Thus far, they have successfully represented Cuba, France, Argentina and Belarus. Our Classrooms Our classrooms are designed to facilitate and stimulate collaborative learning. They are intriguing learning environments, alive with wonderful and challenging educational resources, plants, art, and the students’ own creations. The atmosphere is peaceful, which leads most children to become totally absorbed in their studies. We build an environment for the “unhurried mind” to move steadily toward the pursuit of excellence. Our Teachers Every one of our classrooms is led by a trained Montessori teacher and our classrooms have a full complement of Montessori materials. Parents choose our school because our teachers are committed to the individual growth of every student. Our teachers work closely with each family to ensure a positive, caring and successful school experience for everyone. Our Students Each student is treated with kindness and respect. Students look up to their teachers as mentors, guides, and friends. We set high expectations, stressing the importance of careful work and pride in accomplishment at all levels. In each class, older students encourage and help those who are younger. Because children tend to learn effectively from one another, often the best teacher is someone just a little bit older than themselves. Our students grow up with the sense that they belong to an extended family of parents, teachers, and fellow students.
