Learning Station Child Care
About Us: Hi Parents, thank you for your interest in Learning Station Child Care, my home-based daycare and preschool in Accokeek, MD. I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have 14 years of experience in child care and early childhood education. I’m CPR & First-aid certified, as well as MAT trained (if needed, I can administer medication to all children in my care). Upon becoming a mother, I remembered how refreshing it is to contribute significantly to children's social, emotional and intellectual growth. So, I decided to stay home with my own children (I'm a mom of 4!) I also decided to help other parents within my community by providing child care services where I am able to watch other children evolve by providing the same loving and nurturing care as I do with my own. Learning Station Child Care is located in the Simmons Acres neighborhood in Accokeek, MD. My home is right off Indian Head Hwy (route 210), not far from the Manokeek Village Center, with easy access to Livingston Rd, Berry Rd and Bensville Rd. Curriculum and Program Since we all have different learning styles, I decided to use the Montessori method which is a learning philosophy not determined by a child's age, but rather by the rate and speed at which a child can acquire one skill before moving on to another skill. In addition to that, I also follow the Play-based approach to make sure children are engaged and have fun while learning. My family child care and preschool program is open year-round from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I can provide full-time and part-time care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers between the age of 6 weeks old and 5 years old, including children with special needs. Meals are already included in the tuition and served to all children attending my program (meals included are breakfast, lunch and snacks). Please contact me to schedule a visit, I look forward to meeting your family!

We view each child as a unique and special person with his or her own pattern and timing of growth. As caregivers we are devoted to providing a wealth of opportunities for discoveries, stimulating experiences, problem solving, and accomplishments. Our philosophy is based on the belief that all areas of a child's development (social, emotional, physical, and cognitive) are integrated. We believe that optimal development in all areas is derived from a positive, supportive, and individualized relationship with adults. Our curriculum encourages children to be actively involved in the learning process, to experience a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and learning materials, and to pursue their own interests as unique individuals in their community and in their world.

Tender Blessings

At Tender Blessings Accokeek, I consider it my responsibility and... privilege to offer services that "fill in the gaps" that are left by today's extreme pace of life. I offer exceptional child CARE with a preschool curriculum. As important as education or young children is, I believe there needs to be a balance, where developing the "whole child" must also support the parents and family. What does this mean for you? Reliable, consistent care for your child with all of the benefits of a home environment AND a preschool learning environment. We use "creative curriculum", which is literacy based and promotes curiosity and problem solving among young children. Creative curriculum uses the child's natural curiosity to drive their education by asking open ended questions and providing opportunities for children to explore and discover the answer using their bodies and minds. I have a degree in Pedology (Comprehensive Child Development) as well as 14+ years of experience and additional training with children. Currently, I am the highest rated program in Southern Prince Georges County, based on the MSDE and John's Hopkins EXCELS rating program (md.excels.org). I am also considered a Level 6 Credentialed Provider by Maryland State Department of Education and Nationally Accredited by the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC). I participate in the National Food Program and Child Care Aware's Military Subsidy Program as a "preferred provider". I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my program and services with you!
