Forest Knolls Kids Playhouse
Forest Knolls Kids Playhouse is a home daycare in Silver Spring, MD. I’m the owner and main caregiver, and I have 7 years of child care experience. I hold an Associate's Degree and I’m CPR & First aid certified, as well as MAT trained (if needed, I can administer medication to children in my care). I’m also a mom of 2 kids, so I can relate to parent's concerns and challenges when it comes to finding a safe and affordable daycare! My family child care program is open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday (year-round). I provide full-time care for infants as young as 6 weeks, as well as toddlers through preschoolers up to 5 years old, including children with special needs. I serve snacks to all kids in my care and due to possible allergies, I run peanut and tree-nut free child care facility. I believe that children learn best through play and thus, I follow the Play-based teaching philosophy. This approach helps each child to boost their confidence and develop their socio-emotional and cognitive skills. In addition to English, I also speak Amharic and upon your request, I can expose your little one to this foreign language (however, my program is not fully bilingual or language immersion). Forest Knolls Kids Playhouse is in the Forest Knolls community of Kemp Mill, in Silver Spring, MD. My facility is near Forest Knolls Elementary School, and has easy access to all major roads: the I-495, University Blvd W, Colesville Rd, and Columbia Pike. Message From The Owner Hi parents! I'm the owner and main caregiver at Fran's Kids Playhouse, and I love working with kids! I always maintain a good relationship with parents and do my best to accommodate their needs and concerns. One of my top priorities is to give parents peace of mind. I have 30 years of child care and early childhood education experience. I hold a Child Development Associate's degree as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science. Georgian Forest Day School

About Me: Dear Parents, welcome to Georgian Forest Day School, my family child care and preschool program in Silver Spring, MD! I’m the owner and... lead teacher and I have 12 years of experience in child care and early education. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and I’m CPR and First-aid certified. I’m also MAT trained, so I can administer medication to the children in my care. I’m Australian American, but I've also lived in Japan for six years and thus speak Japanese. At your request, I can therefore teach your child a little bit of Japanese (for instance, I know nursery rhymes and lullabies in Japanese that I'll be happy to sing :) I'm also Bangladeshi and speak fluent Bengali. This is a great opportunity for your little one to be exposed to foreign languages and to become multilingual! Although I've lived in four countries in the last 2 decades (Australia, Japan, Bangladesh and the US), my passion for children and the early education field has never dwindled. I still vividly remember my interactions with Japanese children while serving as a foreign instructor in a Japanese school. This career has given me the opportunity to look after my three boys (who are now pursuing degrees in medical school and computer sciences.) When my own children started school in Australia, they did not have any problem adjusting because they were already equipped with all the skills needed for socialization and learning. I want to help get your child ready the same way! Philosophy: Each child is unique in their own way and so, I am dedicated to developing each child’s individuality. My goal at Georgian Forest Day School is to help your child to become independent, gain confidence, feel safe while they explore new things and always feel excited about learning. Children grow at their own developmental pace and each child comes from a family that have their own beliefs and values. As a caregiver and early educator, I believe it is my responsibility to understand the child as a whole and tailor my approach to the child’s needs. My goal is to promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child. I also believe that play should be the base of learning and countless studies have proven that children learn through play. My family child care program therefore uses the play-based approach – allowing kids to be kids -- which also helps children develop their cognitive and socio-emotional skills. Program: My home daycare and preschool is open year-round from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I have several options to choose from to accommodate your family child care needs: I provide full-time and part-time daycare, as well as drop-in care for children between 6 weeks to 5 years old, including children with special needs. I’m part of the USDA Food program and I serve 3 meals a day to all attending kids (breakfast, lunch, and snacks are already included in the tuition). For older kids up to 12 years old, I can offer before and after school care (I’m within walking distance from Georgian Forest Elementary School and a few minutes away from Bel Pre Elementary School). Location: Georgian Forest Day School is located in the Georgian Forest neighborhood of Silver Spring, MD (near Georgian Forest Elementary School and Georgian Forest Local Park). My child care facility is conveniently located for your morning and evening commute since I'm right off Georgia Ave between Wheaton-Glenmont and Aspen Hill, Md. Thank you for taking the time to reading my profile, please call or send me an email to schedule a tour. I’d love to meet you and your little one!
