About

Thank you for considering me for your child care! Here at Ms. Kayla’s Daycare I will nurture your child as I care for them. I encourage children through every developmental stage as they grow. For infants, I do not have a set routine; I follow your child’s individual schedule for eating and sleeping. Throughout the day we have fun! We play together, sing, read stories, listen to fun music, teach basic sign language, make simple handprint crafts and enjoy the sun, weather permitting. For toddlers, I do follow a flexible schedule; I have included a copy, it gives you an example of a typical day with your toddler. Toddlers learn through play! When not involved in care-giving routines toddlers should play! We offer three structured free playtimes throughout the day. This playtime is not limited by teacher-imposed rules. The teacher’s role is to facilitate, play with, expand vocabulary, monitor confrontation between children and provide a secure environment which they can explore through play. During both routine and play time I encourage your toddlers to use self-help skills. This helps them feel competent and powerful- “I DID IT!” toddlers should be toddlers-this is the time to try out all of their new independence skills in a supportive environment in a non-rushed manner. Along with care-giving routines, here are some other areas we focus on:  Separation from parent/Reunion with parent  Communication/Language Skills (encouraging to “use their words”)  Listening Skills  Socialization with peers  Circle time (informal)  Mealtime- feeding self-using utensils-table manners (simple) -transitioning from bottle to use of sippy cup  Encouraging to participate in Clean-up Time after Playtime  Sign Language (basic) we always use the verbal word with a sign I offer a variety of choices for toddler play that include: Books (board) Plastic Play Dishes Blocks Bean Box Dolls and simple props Vehicles (trains, cars, etc.) Dress-up (simple) Fine Motor Skill Activities-such as: Dramatic Play (simple) Puzzles/Shape Sorters/Peg Boards/ Musical Instruments Stacking Cups/Lacing/Art Push and Pull Toys Large Motor Equipment Stuffed Animals Water Play (outside in summer) If you have any questions regarding my daycare, feel free to talk to me at any time! I understand as a parent how hard it is to leave your child in someone else’s care, so if you ever need a photo of your little one or a check-up during the day I always understand! I have a “open door” policy, I need no arrival warning unless it is around nap time (don’t want to wake the little ones)! In addition to teaching and caring for your child, I am here to play, interact and have fun with them! Thank you! I hope to see you and the little one soon! - Ms. Kayla
