On Saturday, September 13, round up your kids and visit the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library for a day of family fun, food, prizes and most importantly, free resources!

The Sing, Talk & Read (STAR) Family Festival, which will be held at 901 G St. NW, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is part of DC Public Library’s Sing, Talk & Read DC Campaign, which encourages parents to play an active role in their child’s early education by singing, talking and reading to their babies and very young children.

This year’s festival will feature live children’s performances with Two-Time Grammy Award Winners Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, character appearances by Super Why and other surprise guests, a photo booth, free book and prize giveaways, workshops for parents, lunch and interactive crafts and games for children. To connect families to vital health and educational resources, the Library partners with other children’s organizations and D.C. agencies. The event is sponsored by Radio One, and emceed by radio personalities Shorty da Prince and Angie Ange.

This is the DC Public Library’s second annual STAR Family Festival. Last year’s event was a big success with over 400 D.C. families in attendance. For more information, visit dclibrary.org/starfestival.
