Mission Statement Pinecrest School is committed to providing a positive social and emotional environment for student development. The school provides an atmosphere that bolsters self-confidence and equips its students with the cognitive skills necessary to undertake and succeed in rigorous academic pursuits throughout their lives. Preschool at Pinecrest School Half-day programs (Monday-Friday) for three-year-olds and four-year-olds are designed to lay the foundation for future academic success and personal emotional health. Preschool students learn to function in structured group settings within a framework of positive ethical and moral guidance. The preschool program prepares children for kindergarten and subsequent academic challenges by emphasizing fine and gross motor skills and speech and language development, all in accordance with each child's learning pace, in an atmosphere of affection and warmth. An indoor multipurpose room and modern high quality play facilities provide opportunities for safe recreational activities. Each preschool faculty member enhances lesson plans with many thematic and creative activities. Pinecrest School offers preschool after-care from 12 noon until 6 p.m. for preschool students who are currently enrolled in the school for an additional fee. Kindergarten at Pinecrest School The kindergarten program is structured to strike the right balance for each child between the continued need for informal activity, including play, and preparation for academic work. Small class size and an emphasis on individual growth enable us to tailor the program to reflect the needs and abilities of each child. The program includes: phonics reading writing mathematics science social studies Grades 1-6 at Pinecrest School Without sacrificing the atmosphere of caring and attentiveness that permeates the school, the elementary grades provide a structured and challenging academic curriculum. The program includes: language arts (phonics, reading, language, spelling, literature, composition, vocabulary, and handwriting) mathematics science social studies Small class sizes enable Pinecrest to individualize instruction and to ensure that students progress academically, in many instances surpassing grade level academic expectations. Homework assignments are made daily with the understanding that parents will review the successful completion of those assignments as one important means of monitoring and encouraging their children's progress in close cooperation with their teachers. Initially, these lessons introduce the concept of foreign language to preschoolers through songs and conversation. In subsequent years, Pinecrest students considerably expand their knowledge of Spanish. The students go to Spanish class with a teacher twice a week in preschool and three times a week in kindergarten and first grade. Foreign language in second through sixth grade is taught through Rosetta Stone Classroom and supervised by the Spanish teacher. Faculty & Staff Pinecrest faculty members are carefully selected based not only on qualifications, credentials and proven teaching skills, but also for their understanding of children and their ability to provide a warm, nurturing environment. All faculty members are committed to the core principles of emotional nurturance and challenging curriculum. In-service workshops, personal academic advancement and active involvement in school policy and administration are key to the development of strong morale and a high degree of professionalism among the faculty. Pinecrest Summer Pavilion is committed to offering our campers an enjoyable and enriching summer experience in a physically safe, emotionally supportive, and fun-filled environment. We believe our high-quality instruction, low camper-to-teacher ratio, talented instructors, and cheerful facility create the perfect environment for exploration, growth and, most of all, fun. Whether it’s for a few weeks here and there, or a full-time summer experience, Pinecrest Summer Pavilion is sure to provide just what you need. Our camp is available to rising K-6 students and runs for eight weeks, in one-week sessions, beginning June 22 and ending August 14. Each week, camp is divided into two half-day sessions. The morning session runs from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., and the afternoon session runs from 12:45-3:45 p.m. Anyone wishing to stay all day will choose two classes (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) and will participate in a supervised lunch and play time. For additional fees, before-care is available from 7:45-9 a.m. and after-care is available from 3:45-6 p.m. At Pinecrest Summer Pavilion, you can custom-design your child’s great time by choosing the classes that best fit his/her needs and interests. During the eight weeks of camp, a wide selection of programs will be offered so that children can experience a lot of fun and exciting activities, not just one. Art, science, writing, drama, cooking, sports, games and a wide array of creative, themed classes are all part of the adventure. In addition to variety, our program offers great flexibility. Have swim team in the morning? Don’t worry, you can attend our exciting afternoon sessions. Like to spend the afternoon by the pool? Come early to enjoy a morning session and be done by noon. Interested in an action-packed summer of learning and fun or need full-time care? We’ve got you covered with our full-day camp program plus before-care and after-care. Here you will find something for everyone! We also know that summer is the time to relax, have fun, and just be a kid. Like Pinecrest School, Pinecrest Summer Pavilion endeavors to develop community and build camp spirit. In addition to taking classes, campers will have the opportunity to take part in camp-wide activities and theme days. This might mean playing on our giant water slide, dressing for a “beach day,” participating in a hula hooping contest, running through the sprinkler, or sitting on the lawn eating popsicles together – all the things that make summer...well, summer! Preschool Pavilion, our summer camp program for four year olds (by September 30, 2015), is offered all eight weeks that camp is in session and features weekly themes and creative, developmentally-appropriate activities. Each session is one-week long and will take place from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. There is no preschool before-care or after-care.
