Tuckaway - Varina Child Development Center, Henrico

There is a delicate balance in challenging your child to learn new things, while still addressing his or her level of rediness. As a family-owned child care center, Tuckaway provides the truly individual attention every child deserves, with stimulating hands-on and creative challenges that encourage them to learn more, without overwhelming them or allowing them to get bored. Opening in 2011, Tuckaway-Varina has over 5 acres of space for children to explore. The building has 2 sections; one for preschool, one for after school, and 2 separate playgrounds. The hard surface area and cover allow outside activity if the ground is wet, and we also have 2 pools for swimming! Inside, the preschool area features a large common area for children to play if they can't go outdoors. The school age side also has a large common area with a basketball court, and a computer station. Our curriculum is based on Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP), a nationally recognized teaching methodology developed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
