About The Owner:
Hello, parents! I’m Maria, originally from Mexico and I've been living in the Bay area for 9 years. I live with my husband and my beautiful daughter Millaray who is 12 years old. Millaray is the main reason I got interested in the Early Childhood Education field, she was in different child care centers since she was 15 months old, however, during this period I noticed that some centers had little information related to early childhood education.
Experience is very important in the early childhood field, however, I also believe it is important to have an education because it gives caregivers better knowledge and skills required to work with young children. I took classes in early childhood education at the College of Marin, as well as necessary training. My certifications and units are always available for parents to see.
As a mother, I know how difficult is to leave your child with a stranger, which is why we establish open communication to build a strong partnership that will help children in their growth and development. We have an app for parents, where we send photos and videos of their kids' activities, and they can also chat with us through this app.
Philosophy:
At La Casa del Sol Bilingual Daycare, we want children to learn through play, our curriculum emerges from children’s interests, and we often do observations that will help us to meet and assess the children’s needs. We believe that family is essential in child development, and that is why we want the family to be involved and an active member of the program.
Our goal is to prepare families and children for their school transitions to the various educational programs currently offered in schools. We offer a variety of enrollment options throughout the year to help meet the individual goals of each family and child. We offer unique experiences that help open children's minds to new cultures, accept diversity and prepare children for their school transition. Our teachers take the time to help children one on one in a program that teaches children through knowledge such as math, science, reading, letters, and more.
We do not believe in punishment as Magda Gerber said “All children accomplish milestones in their own way, in their own time.” We believe that punishment will only pause the problem, in this center we acknowledged the problem and look for a solution along with the children’s emotions.
Curriculum:
Our program is based on the California Preschool Curriculum Frameworks for children from 0 -3 years old. We have adopted this curriculum over the years by implementing it in several of our students to have an appropriate Spanish insertion curriculum. Every child is unique, so we strive to guide each one of our students using a tailored approach to foster their intellectual development, as well as their physical and socio-emotional growth.
At our daycare, we also celebrate cultural diversity and we want our students to learn from each culture so that they respect each different way of thinking and living that children are exposed to. Surrounding children with great cultural diversity at an early age helps them to identify and appreciate their culture, which allows them to grow up with a more open mind while recognizing the power and benefits of diversity and inclusion.
In our child care and preschool program, we offer cooking classes, dance classes, music classes, science, soccer, and gymnastics. We also incorporated cucu’s playhouse that will be twice a month. In addition to English, we also teach our kids the Spanish language, which is a wonderful opportunity for your child to become bilingual at a young age.
We also do tea parties, we go for walks in the park, and much more. We want to make families happy, they are raising children that might be future lawyers, doctors, or maybe a president, children are the future! :)
Date Night Special:
Raising a child is wonderful but it's also hard, so at Casa del Sol, we want to help you get some alone time to recharge your batteries! Every 2 months, families enrolled at Casa del Sol get to have a date night with their spouse or partner. During the weekend, we will babysit your child for 3h for free so you can go on a date!
