Welcome to Covington Children's Corner, a licensed daycare and preschool in Bowie, MD. Located in the Covington neighborhood, we're right off Excalibur Rd and Eagles Nest Dr, near Walmart at Collington Plaza. With easy access to US Route 301 (Robert S. Crain Hwy is just 2 minutes away), your daily commute will be simpler.
Our doors are open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I care for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. I understand that every family has different needs, so I offer a variety of child care options: Full-Time Care (for parents seeking consistent, daily care), Part-Time Care (for families needing a few days a week) as well as a preschool program focused on early learning and development (for preschoolers to be ready for kindergarten). I also offer Before & After School Care for school-aged children up to 12 years old.
Our facility is peanut-free and tree-nut-free to ensure the safety of all children, and I provide healthy snacks included throughout the day. As your child care provider, my goal is to make your life a little easier while providing a joyful and educational experience for your child. I provide a safe and engaging child care facility where infants, toddlers, and preschoolers can explore, learn, and play. I understand the trust you place in a caregiver, and I'm committed to offering a loving environment that feels like a second home for your little ones!
At Covington Children's Corner, I believe in fostering a respectful and kind community. I teach children the importance of good manners and valuing the presence of others. Our daycare follows a play-based teaching philosophy, and we learn through Free Play which encourages imagination and collaboration with other kids. Singing and dancing are also an important part of our days as it promotes happiness and physical activity.
Our curriculum is designed to develop social skills and communication, focusing on each child's individual needs. I aim to build a strong parent partnership, rooted in trust and open communication. Your child will enjoy activities that focus on self-care, caring for others, and environmental responsibility while interacting with respect and courtesy. They will engage their five senses to explore and understand the world, develop phonetic awareness and a love for reading, learn early math from concrete to abstract, and also get introduced to basic physics, nature, and scientific concepts.
I'm the owner and primary caregiver at Covington Children's Corner. I’m a mom of two amazing children (now in grade school) and have accumulated over 10 years of hands-on experience working with kids. I'm C.P.R and First Aid certified, so you can rest assured that your child is in capable and caring hands.
My journey in child care began as an assistant in another daycare, where I discovered my passion for teaching and nurturing young minds. I also dedicated six years volunteering at my church, enriching children's lives through various programs. Opening my own in-home daycare was a dream come true: it allows me to stay home while continuing to do what I love most: teaching and spending quality time with children.
Now that my own kids are older, I'm excited to extend my passion to your family. I find interacting with children very rewarding; their curiosity and the way they absorb knowledge like sponges amazes me. I believe that every child has unique gifts, and I strive to nurture those individual strengths in a supportive environment!
