The teachers are not the problem here, it's the owners. They are unprofessional, defensive, and utterly refuse to work with families or even listen with open minds when questions or concerns arise. They have been openly hostile no matter how diplomatically I have tried to bring up concerns. They don't care about your kids, they care about their bottom line, and the reality is with the childcare shortage in this area, they don't have to, because when they make one family leave, there are other families desperate for their spot. It's really a shame, because there's some great teachers here, but I would never recommend this place based upon the owner's childish behavior.

My experience with Brookhaven Dayschool. This May I started sending my 2.7yo to BCD and towards the end of the month she really liked going there. Out of 24 days she attended the school for 13 days as she had caught cold and developed a ear infection subsequently. Her daily report card showed that she enjoyed there and even her teacher had told me once that she was not a problem child. Then suddenly on May 27 the teacher and director of the school asked us to look for half day schools as Thea wasn’t adjusting there. She wouldn’t stay in her bed for 2 hours which was “mandated” by the state law plus she was not making any friends, was not eating her tiffin, was not enjoying the craft activities, etc. We were totally fine with their explanation and enquired if the two weeks’ notice can be waived off in such a case. The director agreed and we offered to put the same in writing but she said it wasn’t needed. This was a Thursday. On Friday again we confirmed over phone that we wouldn’t be sending her from next week as we got her admitted to another school and to please waive off the two weeks’ fees as agreed upon. The person over the phone assured us the same. On Tuesday our bank account was debited with $200 for the weeks fees. Upon enquiring they said the accountant found it a short notice so they will refund $100. They said he has written a mail to us explaining the same. Then my husband went to collect my child’s belongings at the school when the director said we can’t afford to not charge fees for every child that doesn’t like our facility. The next day we got the mail from the accountant. It said he had not sent a mail but an SMS on my phone where my number was wrong. I had been receiving calls from her school so they did have my correct number. My husband replied asking for a refund to which he asked us to collect cheque or send mailing address. We asked him to confirm the amount but there was no reply. FINALLY WE GOT OUR FEE REFUND. But just wanted to share for benefit of other parents.

We absolutely love Brookhaven! When we started searching for a daycare, my husband and I had one main goal: find a place that will provide a loving, nurturing environment and also prepare our child for Kindergarten. We wanted a place that focused on curriculum and learning objectives regardless of the age, and also loved on our baby while we were at work. Brookhaven checked all the boxes and then some! Our daughter is truly loved by her teachers and the staff, and they genuinely care about her growth and well-being.

When I was first looking for child care options for my eldest daughter, my husband and I visited numerous day care facilities, day schools and childcare options. In every case except here, I had serious concerns and reservations. Arriving there, even within my normal "new mother anxiousness", they made us feel "at home". There is special attention paid to each child, based on who they are and what they need. Furthermore, the curriculum and lesson plans are engaging and grow/adapt along with your child's maturity/needs. Whenever we have had concerns or questions the Administration has welcomed the one-on-one conversations to talk through whatever is needed. We are now going on year seven, having been part of infant care, pre-school/pre-k and after-school care; my husband and I feel certain that there is no where else that would be better suited for these sweet daughters that God entrusted us with.
