This is what happened to my child (see photo) because Brookland Daycare Teachers decided it was a good idea to allow a bunch of freshly walking babies to play on a concrete pad (patio). Then because my husband asked them "Why did they allow this to happen" they told him today would be my daughter's last day. After my husband told me what happened I called and spoke with the Director and she told me that my husband blamed them for what happened to our daughter until she pointed out it was an accident then he agreed with her "Accidents happen" and then told her "My daughter is not to be allowed to play on concrete", because of this and two other "incidents" she (The Director) has decided the Brookland is not a good fit for my family. I asked her what other incidents and she said the first one was when my husband noticed there were 12 children and only 2 teachers, so he asked if they were within ratio (because he is a concerned parent). They told him they were the state allows a ratio of 12:2 and he left it alone. The other "incident" was yesterday when I called because my husband told me that again my daughter was sent home with a full bottle after we asked them multiple times to make sure they give it to her at nap time and because her water bottle was left in a different room. The water situation was concerning because when my husband gave our daughter the water at pick up she snatched it from him taking huge gulps as if she hadn't had anything to drink. I said to the Director "So we are being punished for being concerned parents and asking questions?" The Director said "I did not say that. Your husband accused us of allowing it to happen, we took offense to that and your husband. I have a lot of pride in our facility and my staff." I asked "Did my husband yell at y'all", "No, he did not", "Did my husband swear at y'all or call you names", "No, he didn't. He was just very stern and it intimidated my staff" "So we are being kicked out because my husband was rightfully upset about our daughter being injured on your watch and for asking questions?" She responded, "I just do not think we are the right fit for your family." I then asked her if she could at least give us the same two-week notice that we would be required to give her so we could find another daycare, but she refused. I pleaded with her telling her my husband and I both have full-time jobs and we do not have another option during the day, but she still refused. I was pretty frustrated and hung up on her at that point. Don't enroll your children at Brookland, they are not their priority.
