Welcome to Kemp Mill Estates Wonderland, a state-licensed daycare and preschool in Silver Spring, MD. Our home-based child care program is located in the family-friendly Kemp Mill Estates neighborhood, just off Arcola Ave, with convenient access to University Blvd W (MD 193), Georgia Ave (MD 97), Colesville Rd (US 29), and Veirs Mill (MD 586).

We are open year-round, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. We offer both full-time and part-time child care for infants as young as 6 weeks old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old. We also offer flexible drop-in care for families who need occasional or temporary child care.
We proudly welcome children with special needs, including those with speech delays and mobility difficulties. Please note that our home is not currently wheelchair accessible. We encourage parents to speak with us about their child’s specific needs so we can discuss how we can best support them while in our care.
Children attending Kemp Mill Estates Wonderland receive daily breakfast and snacks at no additional cost, and lunch is available for a small additional fee. If your child has any allergies, dietary restrictions, or specific food preferences, please let us know so we can take them into consideration when preparing meals.
We also offer discounts for siblings and military families. We proudly accept child care vouchers and eligible subsidy programs to help make quality child care more accessible to families in our community.
Hello parents! 🤗 I’m the owner and main caregiver at Kemp Mill Estates Wonderland here in Silver Spring, MD. I’m a proud mom and educator, and for more than 23 years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for children through different stages of their early years.
My journey in early childhood education began when I became a classroom lead at a daycare center. That experience inspired me to eventually open my own home daycare, where I could create a warm and personal environment for children and build strong relationships with their families. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is watching children grow, reach new milestones, and gain confidence as they learn.
As a mother myself, I understand how much trust parents place in the person caring for their child. I am CPR and First Aid certified, helping give families additional peace of mind while their children are in my care. In addition to English, I am fluent in Amharic and Tigrinya. Upon request, I am happy to introduce these languages to the children and incorporate them into their learning experience.
My hope is for Kemp Mill Estates Wonderland to feel like a second home, where every child receives genuine care and attention and feels comfortable being themselves. I want children to leave our program carrying the skills, experiences, and memories they gained here into the next stage of their lives.
Since 2003, Kemp Mill Estates Wonderland has been a second home for children in Silver Spring, where they are cared for with patience, kindness, and personal attention. We provide a safe and nurturing environment that supports early learning, development, and growing independence.
We are proud to have been NAFCC-accredited for several years, an accreditation we are in the process of renewing. We also use Creative Curriculum, a high-quality curriculum that is not commonly offered in home daycare programs and brings structure and purpose to our children’s learning experiences.
Over the years, we have built lasting relationships with families, with many parents returning to our program or recommending us to friends, relatives, and other members of the community. We are grateful for the trust families continue to place in us.
Our mornings often begin with circle time, where children listen to a story connected to the weekly theme before moving into hands-on learning activities that encourage early math skills, creativity, and exploration. Activities may include matching patterns, counting, drawing, and holiday or theme-inspired crafts.
When the weather is nice, children enjoy outdoor play in our fenced yard as well as supervised walks around the neighborhood. During our walks, we may go on scavenger hunts, explore our surroundings, or practice skills such as counting using objects we see along the way. 🌳
Throughout the day, we follow a consistent routine that includes breakfast, snack time, lunch, activities, outdoor play, and nap time. This balance gives children opportunities to learn, play, explore, recharge, and simply enjoy their day in a warm and nurturing environment.
