Welcome to Ventura Children's Place! We are a licensed home-based daycare and preschool in the family-friendly Ventura subdivision of Silver Spring, MD. Conveniently located just off Wexhall Dr near Columbia Pike (US 29), our child care program also offers easy access to the Intercounty Connector (MD 200). We’re just a few minutes from Greencastle Elementary School, making our location convenient for families living or working in the Silver Spring area.
Our Silver Spring child care program is open year-round, Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. We offer full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 6 weeks old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers. For school-age children up to 12 years old, we provide convenient before- and after-school care to help support families with busy schedules. We also offer drop-in child care based on availability for families who need occasional or unexpected care.
Our goal is to provide dependable, nurturing care that gives parents peace of mind while making child care fit more comfortably into their daily lives. At Ventura Children's Place, all of our little ones receive well-balanced daily snacks, which are included in tuition. We also maintain a peanut- and tree-nut-free environment to help keep children with nut allergies safe.
Hi parents! 👋 I am the owner and main provider at Ventura Children's Place. My passion for caring for children began with my own experience as a parent and mother of three. I had the opportunity to spend 10 years raising my children at home full-time without daycare or a babysitter, which taught me the importance of patience, nurturing, and creating a safe and loving environment.
I later worked in a family child care program for more than two years, where I discovered how much I truly enjoyed caring for and supporting children beyond my own family. I am also CPR, First Aid, and MAT (Medication Administration Training) certified, helping me provide a safe and well-prepared environment for the children in my care.
As a child care provider, I love supporting children as they explore the world and reach important milestones. Every child is unique, and I enjoy taking the time to understand each child’s personality, interests, and individual needs while also building trusting, long-lasting relationships with their families.
I am also fluent in Amharic and, upon request, I am happy to introduce your little one to a second language through simple, everyday conversations. I feel truly grateful for the opportunity to care for and guide children during such an important stage of their lives. I am committed to helping each child feel loved, supported, and confident as they grow.
My child care philosophy is based on the belief that children deserve to feel safe, loved, and respected while they learn and grow. I strive to make Ventura Children's Place a nurturing, home-like child care environment where children can explore, play, ask questions freely, and develop at their own pace. I treat every child with the same care and attention I would want for my own children while recognizing and respecting each child’s unique personality, interests, pace, and individual needs.
I also believe that caring for a child is a partnership between the child care provider and the family. As a mother and an experienced caregiver, I understand the trust parents place in the person caring for their children. I value open communication and work to build strong, respectful relationships with each family so we can support their child together.
My goal is not simply to provide child care, but to create a second home where children feel a sense of belonging, build a strong foundation for learning, and make happy memories along the way.
Each day at Ventura Children's Place follows a consistent yet flexible routine that gives children a sense of security while allowing plenty of time for learning, play, and exploration. Our mornings begin with arrivals and free play, giving children time to settle in and get comfortable at their own pace. Morning routines also include breakfast, handwashing, diapering and toilet breaks as needed, followed by circle time and story time with songs, stories, and group conversations.
The morning continues with a snack, small-group learning activities, and outdoor play. These experiences give children opportunities to develop their social, physical, language, and cognitive skills through a combination of structured and child-led activities. In the afternoon, children enjoy lunch and time for social interaction, followed by personal care and hygiene routines and a restful nap. After rest time, we have an afternoon snack and head outdoors again when the weather allows.
Throughout the day, children also participate in art, music, and other creative activities, with additional free play as we wind down and prepare for pick-up. Our daily routine is designed to create a happy, nurturing rhythm where children know what to expect, have opportunities to learn and become more independent, and receive the individual care and attention they need throughout the day.
