About Us:
Welcome to Newington Woods Educational Playhouse, our family child care program and preschool program in Springfield, VA. I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have 15 years of experience. I also have 2 assistants with 9 years of combined experience who come to my house when I need their help in taking care of the children attending our program. We are CPR and First-aid certified. All the people living in my house have undergone a background check and fingerprint clearance. In addition to my child care experience and credentials, I also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
Philosophy & Curriculum
When we open our door to welcome a child in our daycare, he/she becomes a member of our family. We try our best to make it a healthy and enjoyable learning experience for every child. It is always a delight to see young ones grow and blossom in our care.
Our program follows the Play-based learning principles, an approach to make learning more fun. We try to offer a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities to enhance learning and keep children interested and motivated. They love to sing, dance, put together puzzles and read with me. They also enjoy nature walks, playing in the sandbox and various play in the yard.
Program
We’re open year-round from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. I provide full-time and part-time care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers between the age of 4 months to 5 years old. I also offer Drop-in care if you have occasional child care needs. Before and after school care are both available for school-age kids, up to 12 years old (we’re close to Newington Forest Elementary School, Sangster Elementary School, and Hunt Valley Elementary School). We also accept military families who have subsidy (vouchers).
Mealtime is a happy, family time for the children. We serve nutritious and tasty, USDA-approved breakfast, morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack to all children attending our program, and all these are already included in the tuition! Due to possible allergies, we run a peanut-free environment.
In addition to English, we speak different languages such as Hindi, Punjabi, English, Urdu and Pashto and upon your request, we can expose your child to these foreign languages (however, please note that we’re not a bilingual program).
Location
Newington Woods Educational Playhouse is in the Newington Woods neighborhood in Springfield, VA. Our home is right off Pohick Rd (route 641), near Newington Forest Elementary School. Your daily commute to work will be hassle-free since we have easy access to Fairfax County Pkwy (route 286) and the I-95. We were extremely pleased with the care, attention, and love this provider and her team. Our daughter was excited to arrive every morning and would jump into her arms at drop off.
She provides a positive, safe, and enriching experience for the children in her care. The facilities are clean and well maintained, with several rooms dedicated to the children’s play and care. She and her team help each child discover and develop new skills and share in the joy as they grow and learn.
She is hardworking and dedicated. We are in awe of her ability to efficiently run a business in her home while managing the care of babies and toddlers with ease. She is an excellent communicator. She shared pictures and videos of our daughter when she learned new skills and kept us informed of her well-being, feeding, and naps daily.
We have the utmost confidence in her judgment and were extremely comfortable leaving our daughter in her care. We believe our daughter not only felt safe and happy, but also loved while at this daycare. We highly recommend this provider to anyone seeking care for their young children.

The caregiver has been wonderful with our son! She has plenty of activities/areas for the kids to play which I think has played a big role in his development in many areas (movement/speech/music/etc.). I can’t imagine him anywhere else and we always feel comfortable knowing that she is taking the best care of our son!

She took care of our son like our own. We cant thank her enough for all see did. When we first started we were nervous about leaving our beloved son with out us but she was so warm and welcoming she made it easy for us. She is truly a special care giver to be able to care for so many kids with so much love. We were sad when our son graduated but we plan to eventually enroll our younger son with her as soon as he’s ready.

She is an amazing caregiver. My son had an amazing time at her daycare and loved going there every day. My son started going there when he was 2 years old and she helped make the transition so easy. She is very kind and made him feel at home. Her warm smile was always welcoming and my son also enjoyed spending time with her elder kids. She keeps the kids busy with activities, art work and outside play time. I would recommend her daycare to anyone looking for someone they can completely trust with their child.

We are so incredibly happy with our decision to send our son to this provider's daycare. She is so kind and compassionate with all of the kids and so friendly and receptive to my needs as a mother too. She works with each child and their needs and you can tell she truly cares for each child so much. I am so at ease every day sending our baby to this provider and look forward to talking with and seeing her every day. We are truly so very lucky to have found her!

This provider took care of my sweet girl from the time she was 3 months old until she was 14 months old. The only reason she isn't still there is that I had to move to a new military assignment. I can't even tell you how hard it was for me to leave my sweet baby when it was time for me to go back to work. So I was looking for a small family daycare where my baby would be loved and nurtured and cared for the way I would have taken care of her. This provider was all of those things and more. She followed all of my instructions for feeding my baby, first with breast milk and later with the food I prepared for her. My little one really grew to love her. I truly can't say enough wonderful things about this provider and I wish I didn't have to move!

She is very caring, she cares every child as her own. My 4 year old twins stated there at 2.5 years and loved being with her. my children often talk about this provider, even though we are at different location now. I highly recommend her!

I am very happy with our decision to enroll our children in this facility. I was initially hesitant about an in-home daycare, but our children are very happy there. The provider is warm, caring and engaging. Our children come home each day with arts and crafts projects and singing songs they have learned. They talk about daycare constantly and are always excited to go (even on the weekends when we have to remind them that it is closed). I highly recommend this Family Child Care.

This is a very loving and kind, we are so lucky to have found such an amazing childcare provider. It’s a relieving feeling when your child is excited and happy to go to childcare the way Lilah is. She comes home with new songs and stories that she shares proudly with a huge smile. I know when Lilah is with this provider she is well fed, attended to, having fun while learning. I would highly recommend this childcare.
