Our Preschool thrives on providing children with opportunities to explore, experiment and collaborate with their peers as they engage in activities and manipulate materials that promote socialization, higher-order thinking skills, and pretend play. Our play-based emergent curriculum offers teachers and children the chance to work collaboratively to connect the interests of the children to real-world experiences and lessons in the classroom. We recognize the unique skills and abilities of each student and focus intently on educating the “whole child,” including their emotional needs, social growth, physical development and cognitive capabilities. The Country School helps children develop a strong sense of identity through creative self-expression, positive social interaction and meaningful learning experiences appropriate to each individual child. We place significant emphasis on the strong interpersonal relationships between teachers and students. Our small class sizes and low student-teacher ratios enable teachers to plan and implement lessons and projects tailored to the individual needs of the students. The students of The Country School are not only the most vital and active members of our community, but also partners and creators of their own educational path.
