Kidz-Ar-Me Daycare, run by Sheron Jones, is a family child care and preschool program in Silver Spring, MD. I'm the owner and lead teacher is CPR and first-aid certified, as well as MAT trained. My observation and experience has shown that conventional wisdom is learned by seeing and hearing. Children do what they see and say what they hear. My goal is to encourage learning through play, lead through play as well as love and respect through play. I also want to teach each child to be nice and kind with one another. My focus is to treat children as unique individuals and develop that uniqueness as they bloom, with the love and respect that is deserved by all. Everyone is a star. No one should be a bully or should be bullied! There is enough stardom for all, so every child should and will shine! I use the Healthy Beginnings early education curriculum to nurture the immense learning and growth potential that every kid has. Part of my program is to help children develop their life-skills, so they can take on any challenges as they grow. Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning. This saying made me decide to incorporate the play-based approach in my curriculum. Playing is strongly encouraged in early childhood and, parents are slowly jumping on board with this idea. The school system is moving away from that (forced) compulsive study in the early years of a child's life.
